Broken Click Spring - How to fix or source a new part?

I've got my favorite PAM512 (42mm) at a watchmaker who had a bad bit of luck and had the click spring break when he was doing a service on the movement.

He's been a trooper about the problem, but has been having a big problem sourcing a replacement or making a new one.

I've sent two requests to PT about the issue to see if they can source me parts or a new movement, but they haven't responded.

This isn't a bashing of a TD, I'm just trying to figure out how to salvage a favorite watch so that I can wear it.

Any suggestions from the crowd?

Thanks in advance

I presume you bought the watch from PT? Have you asked other TDs?

Nowhere. There are no spare parts for the ST2555 movement.
You have to replace the whole movement. It's a shame, because the click spring is normally a $0.50 part and a new movement is around $40-50.

Still, OP asked for either parts or an entirely new movement.

Find a musical instrument store, and show them the dia. of the spring. They can sell you a length of music wire. It is spring steel, and you or your watch man can easily wind a new click spring from it! ;-)

I've always thought that could be a solution, but never had the balls to try it -- have you done it successfully?

Yes Sir, The spring is a simple coil with a near 90 deg .bend to seat it . Not hard at all. ;-)

The spring is very very tiny and thin. To be honest, it's impossible to rebuild this spring for 99% of us.
