Hi Guys,

my elderly Breitling Superocean Steelfish has a clasp problem for quite sometime.

The pin/bar of the of the clasp fell apart multiple times (see picture). I have replaced it with different pins/bars two times. However, this functions only a short period of time.

My questions are:
  • Has anybody else had this problem?
  • Has anybody a good solution how to fix it?
  • Is it possible to source a replacement clasp somewhere?
Happy to discuss and thanks in advance

Cheers

What is the model number of the bracelet? It should be on the endlinks. I will check my inventroy.

Hi,
I can read 147A and W2108 on the endlinks (endlinks at the watch). Other than that, there are no numbers on the bracelet. Thanks for looking

Maybe message the TD direct who you bought it from. My AP rep backplate screw went missing and at the time Toro sorted me out with some new parts at a reasonable cost.

Could be worth a shot, however the watch is out of production for a long time and I bought it like 5 years ago. I fear that the chance is pretty low.

You could always just buy a pro 3 bracelet and swap the end links. This way you have an upgraded fish.

You could order a whole bracelet from AliExpress and just swap out the clasp. (As the quality of the bracelet might not be the same)

These pressure pins are all you need. Choose a set where the domed ends are low profile (2nd one down in the lower picture) and then just measure the diameter of the pin sleeve and the width of the foldover clasp. If the only sleeve available is too long, this is trimmed with a dremel abrasive drum or similar to match the width of the clasp.

The pin sleeve and head are pushed together in a vice and the result is (or should be) 100% secure. I've done it a few times on bracelet repair projects.
By the way, when pushing the pin and sleeve together in a vice, you gauge how much to squeeze by first getting the resistance until the parts stay together. Then test the clasp movement. Slowly squeeze a bit and test again etc until right. Don't be tempted to squash it in one go (like with a hammer) as the clasp will feel too tight.
