Hi everyone,

I am seeking some guidance regarding my PAM111. I bought the watch about 3 weeks ago from intime. It has ran fine until today when I noticed the second hand wasn't moving. At that point it had been stopped for about an hour. I shook the watch a little on my wrist by just twisting my wrist back and forth a few times and it started working again. It seems to be fine and is keeping accurate time. Is this normal for these watches? I am thinking I need to start thinking about finding a watchsmith, any suggestions? I am in Dallas, TX. Would prefer to stay local but I will ship it if I have to.

Thanks.

patrck17 I have to ask since you didn't mention it but did you wound the crown?

Yea this seems like an obvious enough question to ask sorry I left it out. The watch was nearly fully wound when it stopped. I did wind it the rest of the way but this didn’t start it moving. Only after I shook it did it start again. It is still going at the moment.

Hmm, can you take a nice and clear picture of the caseback? It's curious that it's running again after you shook it so I'd be interested to see the picture.

The little part near the Y incablock between the 2 screws should be there.

I think the micro screw is missing. Put the dial up and try to look from beneath at the back case if you see a little screw.

+3, it looks like your micrometric screw/adjustment screw for the swan neck has gone on a vacation and may be currently lodged inside the movement, which explains the erratic operation. You will need to get that removed quickly else the screw might mess up the movement.

I appreciate the input guys, however I am not sure I know which screw you are referring to. Can you point at it on the pic? Sorry for the legwork I appreciate the help.

No bother at all. It's this screw (in the red rectangle).

I am glad I asked. I would have never saw that. You are right it isn't there. I have referenced QC pics and it is really hard to tell if it is present but I think it is. It must have slipped out but I can't find it, it must be lodged somewhere in the movement. Is this a DYI job or do I need to take this to a watchsmith? I imagine the movement will be familiar enough to any local watchsmith? I read the post about how to find a local watchsmith so I will let them know it is a replica and all, just curious if this is something I should mail it off for.

It really depends on how lodged the screw is up there. If you can open the caseback and then over a large clear area, shake the watch with the dial facing up, hoping the screw falls out. If it does then you can just decide whether you still want to re-install the screw (it is cosmetic and normally does not do anything unless you push the dagger on the movement which would mess up the timing) If it does not come out then you will need a watchmaker's help. The 6497 movement is a very common movement from ETA so a competent watchmaker should recognize it and be able to work with it. .

Perhaps obvious, but do not go to an authorized dealer for panerai or any other luxury brand. Look for a small independent family type watchsmith search how to find a Watchsmith on here. There is a good thread.

Alternatively, Katts watch repair is a vendor on here that is incredible. He's located in Minnesota but is cheap, great work, and very fast. He just serviced my 111. I wouldn't hesitate sending it his way. Top notch gentleman. He's about to get a few others in my collection for sealing and a few upgrades while he has them :D

You wound it after it stopped so it could have messed up the gear....if you are in Holland, I am happy to help

May i ask if the stud holder lever position is normal for a new movement?
if the balance has loose its timing, doesn't the effect that OP describes is natural caused?

Ha! Crazy since I will be in Amsterdam in a few weeks. Only for a day though so I don't think this will work out. I am CONUS so I will work it out here, but thanks for the insight. And yes now I regret having spun it after breaking.
