Hi Everyone, purchased the Breitling Superocea Abyss ZF Factory watch on rubber strap. The watch is great as expected but rubber strap is very stiff (at leas for me). I know usually even gen rubber straps are stiff. I purchased some $15 cheap rubber strap for another watch and it was so soft. So what can be done for this rep rubber strap to make it soft? Boil in water? Or spend some money on real breitling rubber strap? Any other alternative rubber strap suggestions? Thanks.

Putting it in hot water (and bending it) will only help for the curvature of your wrist. But the strap will stay stiff.

Gen is alway a good option. But is it worth your money? That’s up to you. You can also go for a custom leather strap of course.

If it's an Abyss it will most likely have an early version of the Ocean Racer or Diver Pro. Both are pretty stiff and unforgiving. The Aero straps are very comfy, but are totally different animals, and I'm not sure they would look right on an Abyss. I have both gen and rep rubber straps and the most comfy for me (that would be appropriate for your Abyss) is the rep Diver Pro III. Its much more silicone like, pliable and comfortable. I've had no issues with it yet. I have two SuperOcean II 44s (one black and one blue) and have a gen DP3 on the black one and the rep DP3 on the blue one. I can definitely tell the difference. I don't know how long the rep rubber will last, but for the cost you can buy two and just keep one in a drawer for when the first one wears out.

Go gen straps, they are soft as butter on the wrist!
