Hey guys,

eventhough i own a breitling navitimer rep, i am nowhere near an expert for these but a really huge fan. My current rep has a swiss movement and a croc strap but im considering buying a navitimer a guy sells over at rwg.
His watch has a gen dial, gen hands (except subdials) and a gen strap with buckle. Therefore this would be a huge upgrade for me. I am also thinking about swapping the swiss movement to this watch to have the perfect navitimer rep as it runs smooth like butter.

But now on to the real question (to all you experts out there: please help)

Today, he posted this comparison pic:

And as he claims to have a gen dial, i do not fully understand why the font on the right is way thicker / less sharp on all the letters and numbers. Especially visible on the Breitling Anker. And the 24hr numbers.
Or am I mistaken?

Thanks in advance guys!

Well first off you should ask for proof of purchase of gen parts. Your picture of the watch with the strap is in focus and the bracelet picture isn't, which makes everything look fatter. The gold 24hr numbers on a gen dial are slightly fatter than the reps, so this would be correct. The best way to tell if its gen by looking is to get a close up of the sub dials. The reps have a clear transition from the side of the dial into the base and then rise up towards the hand giving a sunburst effmect whereas the gen subs are flat and dont have this. Dial looks gen to me but because of angle, lighting and his crap photo, I'd want to see more pics.

I agree, but on the other hand he doesnt claim the crystal to be gen or anything, so obviously this would be a part I'd have to swap additionally.

What about the Dials? I remember buying my first navitimer of you ;) my father still loves it!

Also that crystal has a more pronounced yellowing than some I've seen including mine, most of the BP Navis suffer from it but that's quite bad. Date window looks gen on the dial but I can't see the other pics on RWG..

lets try again, pic of mine. Note how rep subs have slightly different transition from side to base and also give more reflection. As well as this gen 24 hr numbers are slightly thicker and brighter on gen. So dial on watch you are buying is gen, but you should still ask for proof of gen parts. Apart from those differences rep dial is very good.
