Can the date wheel in this model be replaced with one by Lello and if so what would be the advantage given the sunken window?

Yes it can be replaced with Lellos datewheel but no real advantage as the 3-6-9 sunken datewheel just looks horrible.
Get a serie special case and either brush it yourself or ask your watchmaker to brush the case and install the datewheel in this....Much better looking watch IMHO.
