Brand new TC V6 failure

Received my Tc V6 a few days ago. Was so excited. Wake up today, watch has stopped. Yet my BP sd I took off days ago when I received this watch still was ticking. Gave it a good winding, nope, stopped again.

I heard a few stories lately about his movements with this exact issue, I didn't think it'd happen to me. Does anyone have advice of a trusted person to send it to in USA?

Im taking this watch off, and putting my trusted Seadweller back on.

Sorry to hear of your problems. My TC runs for at least 30 hours after I have taken it off. Have you contacted TC?

Send a mail to Thomas about this problem.
The watch is new , maybe you can send back it for repair.

Hi, did You e-mail TC about this before posting? It always has to happen to somebody and with the postage there is always the possibility for something to come loose/break.
E-mail TC and see what can be done. Good luck in sorting it out.

Thomas is a very busy person it so seems. I'm not going to send the watch back to him, and await months like others have.

I'd rather pay a good known watch smith to fix this movement.

Who do you guys recommend as trusted?

Sorry Kohr, as others posted contact TC and have it addressed by builder, (I know then you have another wait).

There is a jeweler that did work on a dial for my Alpha Explorer in NYC, Jewelry World on Broadway around 97-98th street, they offered to do a service and replace mineral crystal with sapphire for a reasonable amount, at the time I declined since it was running only a little slow and I'd have crystal replaced when it gets more scratched. The Alpha has a Asian DG2813 so pretty sure they can work on any Asian movement. I believe Jeweler is Chinese. Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Rafa

Is the rotor spinning wildly when you try to wind your watch or shake it?

When I wind it manually, not really. However it spins widely upon my wrist movement. I took the watch off and flicked my arm, and you can hear, feel, the rotor spinning crazy.

It stopped the first night I got it. I thought maybe I didn't wind it enough, it stopped again last night. I wind it again this morning, and it stops. There's def a prob with this movement, and judging by other posts others are having the wane problems.r

We sometimes get issues with our watches from Chinese dealers. It's a little upsetting though for a watch that takes months to get.

Btw, I did contact TC however to doubt I'd send it back to him, and await months more for this to be fixed.

If you can take the caseback off and check the rotor behavior maybe you can get a better feel for what's going on. The problem most have had with the TC movement is bad reversing wheels. Mine had the issue and would not stay running on it's own. If it's the reversing wheels then you can most likely fix it yourself very easily. I put new wheels in mine myself but some others have had luck just cleaning them.

Here's a video I took of what mine was doing, maybe yours has the same issue. Maybe not though lol.

I had this same problem and I REALLY wish I had had dome something else to fix it. I emailed TC and he said to send it back for repair. That was 7 weeks ago and I've heard nothing from him. I paid for this watch in march and I've had it for 2 whole days. I'm not the only one in this predicament either.

I recommend SpeedyG. He's in Chicago. Very knowledgeable about all the movements, and excellent at trouble shooting and figuring the problem out quickly and getting it fixed and back to you, and very reasonable prices. Most likely a simple fix, but I wouldn't send it back to TC either. There is no reason for that kind of wait

Good idea. Get it fixed 'locally'. TC doesn't sell his watches with a specific warranty, so things like this would be low on his priority list to address.

I recently sold a watch with an Asian clone movement. The watch was tested extensively by myself before shipping and well packaged. A day after arrival the buyer was complaining that the watch 'stops ticking' every so often. I don't see how this is my problem? ...or TC's problem.

People need to understand that this is a REP movement assembled in dubious conditions.

Sure, it IS a super clone with all parts being 100% interchangeable with gen ....but we all know that any Asian movement will require cleaning and servicing to have Swiss reliability.

^^^ IF you bought it brand new It IS the DEALER problem. It might be because of shipping etc etc.....BUT.....there should be some kind of arrangement to fix this. Most dealers offer a working watch upon arrival or they will gladly accept it back and fix it.

You should expect a working watch. Would you buy a car that doesnt run? a PC that doesnt turn on? a phone that doesnt make phone calls?

Sure this is the rep game but buying something new should be working. If you expect anything else you are a sucker.

M2M maybe different.

I have experienced similar situations too, and as such I always shoot a final QC video now, showing watch functionality prior to returning to customers, but even doing this, I have had some watches arrives DOA. Its all down to the shipping really, I package my watches to survive a nuclear attack lol, and still there can be issues. These can range from hands moving slightly, and catching each other, to balance, or pallet fork being moved from their jewels. As said, once a working watch is shipped, and proof of it working shown, I do still offer to help my customers put it right, even when I know its not my fault whatsoever.

I know you said this in your first post, but you did give it a proper manual winding (30 or so rotations of the crown pulled out in the first position)?

I only ask because I know my other reps seem to get enough power for the movement by just a few shakes of the watch. When I received my TC, it was already running. I wore it for a day and it stopped working. I emailed TC and he asked that I give it a proper manual winding. Since then, I've had no issues. But I know when it did stop, shaking the rotor/watch didn't give enough power to start the movement. Even the gentle tap of the case against the palm which usually results in several rotor spins didn't fire it up.

Wait for TC to repair it?? F that, if you bought a brand new overpriced watch from him he needs to make it a priority to get it fixed not make you wait.
