Inspired by ebzen's thread about the updated superlumed Sea-dweller that was actually made by the BP factory, I ordered one and it arrived today. I was so excited I tried fitting the TC SD bracelet immediately and didn't take any photos of the watch with it's original BP factory bracelet.
Anyway, here's the lug engravings, exactly the same as the superlumed SD serial numbers and marking that came out last year.
As expected, the TC SD bracelet's SELs are wide and didn't fit, so I took out the metal file set and get ready to shave. TC SD bracelet on the left, BP factory SD bracelet on the right side of the photo... and PAM coffee mug from mattuss.
This is the TC SD SEL before the job, plastic was left in the bracelet to protect the other links.
Shaving starts, alternating from side to side. After few strokes, I always try to fit the SEL to see if i've shaved enough to have a good fit. Shaving bit by bit and fit testing helped in avoiding to overshave the SELs.
After few minutes, one of the bracelet has a nice fit.
Repeating the process for the 2nd bracelet until it fits too.
Using the fine sandpaper, I smoothened the sides of the SEL before putting it in the watch. When I used the springbars that came with the BP SD, the TC SD bracelet moves around a little bit, so I used the 2mm springbars that came with the TC SD bracelet. The 2mm springbars made the fitting nice and tight.
Wristshot to finish the operation, I'm just happy that I didn't mess this up.
I'm happy with the BP factory SD and the TC SD bracelet combo, they are perfect for each other. This updated version has a better crystal, better pearl, and nicer crown guards, although it has its weak points as well, mainly the different colored hands and the bracelet.
