I'm heading off to Firenze, Italy next month with the girlfriend and am wondering if any of you had been to the boutiques there?

Just wanted to know if the staff are friendly enough for me to be trying on a few pieces, maybe take a pic or two on the wrist? I will get a gen one day but not financially viable at the moment.

Also want to know pricing for straps if there is any benefit or discount with buying direct from the boutique?

I really want the Calf leather diving glove strap with sewn-in mx buckle. I read somewhere that they are around 200euro with sewn-in buckles anyone have any idea if this is the true.

I will also be proposing to my Gf while there the table is booked at our Hotel we're staying in La Scaletta which has a rooftop terrace restaurant overlooking Florence. So wish me luck guys.

Get something with an open cb, you'd never tell the difference between the closed cb between rep and gen.

Oh and good luck!!!

Sounds like a great trip ahead and congrats to you. A trip to Italy should guarantee a yes answer from the future Mrs. Ikiestick.

Email Paola here [email protected] and ask them what you would like to do, I have dealt with them and they are very professional and prompt.

Good luck with the GF

BTW I'll be visiting them in September.....:cheese:

The main boutique of Panerai in St Giovanni is very small, more like a kiosk. They don't carry much range and often get overrun by tourist herds as it is smack down in the centre of the city's shopping area. I bought my first Pam there some four years agonand I can't say the service or attention I received was anything exceptional, and felt that didn't appreciate any tire kickers there as it is a high traffic area. The second boutique in the Four Seasons is great, have been there a few times and it is a proper luxury setting, lots of space, very good selection of watches and accessories and good service, knowledgable and friendly staff. They don't get half as busy so will talk, offer you a coffee and show anything and everything your heart may desire, within limits, provided you look, dress and act on par with what is expected from sometime who is shopping in a Four Seasons setting. On my last visit in June I bought a 312 for my brother and a few straps for myself and they remembered me from the previous visits and gave lots of goodies, including an awesome, massive coffee table book and a cashmere sweater. So I would say if you are up for actually buying anything, head down that way as you will get threaded times better. Obviously, they not going to drop their knickers for a few straps..but still;) If you do plan on buying straps, from memory they run from 220 for calf and Velcro's to 320 for entry level Crocs, and all the way to 420 for nicer ones...all in Euros. Good luck!
