Hi all

I just registered today and came across this board because I was looking for a reference to find out what "exactly" I bought. It is a PAM090 but I saw that theres usually no PAM090 with see through, correct?

Pictures are here: http://imgur.com/a/1Bn6K

What you guys think of it from the look? I dont have much information unfortunateoy... :-( Wonder also what some of you think the price I bought it for.

Thanks!!

Hi Braa,

What you bought is a solid, yet inaccurate rep of the PAM 90.

It features the Seagull ST2530 movement which is a quite a workhorse and decoration on the rotor and overall movement denotes that it is the higher grade version - the lower grade comes unfinished.

Main inaccuracies:
- As mentioned, the see-through back with wrong markings: GMT (which the PAM 90 isn't), wrong OP/BB, production year behind the number not before, etc...
- The dreaded date change dimple on the side of the case (at 8:00) which is the immediate tell that it is a rep - this is typical of ST2530-based reps and homage watches.
- The space between the words 'Power' and 'Reserve' is too wide; the font for the numbers '0' and '40' seems to be off.

While I can't comment on the case shape, date wheel, crown guard and lever based on the pictures provided, the rest of the watch looks good overall.

How much you paid: between $80 to $150?

Does it have a working PR indicator?

The PR indicator works for watches with the ST2530; the movement has a power reserve module.

TDs usually call it A23J or simply 23J.

Note the date change labeled 'A' on the diagram on the right.

Very nice. That's what I'm looking for although from a UK based dealer. Minor inaccurancies don't bother me too much.

Wow thanks guys for all the information. Currently in Bangkok and got it from a "trusted" dealer for 3000 THB which is about 85 USD. It was the last one he got and I was wondering if any of you saw this "model" to buy somewhere.

Thanks Uberschall! I actually saw this one but then I was wondering why its 60.- more ;-) I kind of like the see through, but all rep I found around the net are with the closed back.

I have one that's even more of a fantasy model than yours; it has the same see-through back, but with a brushed case and crown guard, which also features the "REG. T.M." engraving (only found on 1950 models).

It is an excellent time keeper and although it isn't an accurate rep, I like it enough to have put a python strap on it.

For future rep purchases, be sure to read ALE7575's excellent guide:

I bought this exact same rep on canal street around 5 years ago! the movement died after around 6 months. I thought it was amazing back before I discovered the rep world.

Congrats - this was my first rep too! Great looking piece. Not the most accurate but for the price and functionality it was great for me (As a starter), but then you move on to greater things!!!

Maybe we can hope that one day, we will have an accurate and fully functioning version of this rep :)

You can always take it to a Costco or low end jewelry store and have them test the crystal with a diamond tester (sapphire tests like a diamond). Outside of that for me tapping the glass with your finger nail is a good test...high pitch ring, its mineral, thud its sapphire.
