Hi all, new here and first post. I just picked up a Tudor Pelagos from a (seemingly reputable) buyer online. I was wondering if there was a method to ensure it's legit rather than a pristine replica? I've been surprised by quality of some reps I've seen, including some with papers, box etc., so I was wondering if there is something that would help me decipher the difference and ensure it's legit?

Thanks

pelagos there is almost no difference between rep and gen. If you wanna be sure you have to open the caseback (gen blue pelagos have always the in-house movement, should look like this). pelagos is not worth buying a gen imho, rep is stunning

its the blue one
Good, the blue is only with in-house mt5612calibre. Reps use the eta calibre, difference is in the hands move.
No need for opening the watch, just set the time - if the crown moved clockwise sets the hands clockwise = mt5612 inhouse. Otherwise its eta.

The possibility is still nagging me in the back of my head, not to beat a dead horse, but if the watch passed this test then its 100% a gen?

Imo this is the best test, rep factories do not care about the correct operation of mt5612.
Another good check is the lume - should be even and very long standing, rep lume can be even but won't stay too long.
If you want you can post here some overall photos ot the watch.

So I set it in front of a lamp for about a minute, and the lume lasted a few hours.
(Picture was right after light exposure)

Few hours so it's definitely gen.
Why are you so suspicious about this watch?

I was fairly certain it's gen, but I hate that shadow of a doubt/picked it up off eBay so in the off chance it wasn't gen, I could refund it. Picked it up for $3200

+ I had picked up a rep Panerai a few years back (knowingly) and was really impressed/I couldn't tell the difference. Suppose that makes me a little skeptical also.

So, it came as new, with a Tudor box, card (with rolex a retailers name in Tel Aviv, not the seller), price tag, booklet, and rubber dive bands. Seller was located in NY. The watch had the protective film's on it etc as well as a small bar code sticker on the case. Serial on card matches the watch. I haven't seen anything about the watch that makes me doubt it's authenticity, I was just seeing if there's a surefire way to verify - since it was an eBay transaction and all (seller 3000 Pos. reviews 100%).

If the time sets at the right direction and u have a tiny metall clored dot in the exact middle of the dial above the hands. The serial numbers is matching, and the box is black with black inside. U r good 99.99% :)
