Hello All, I just received my DSN 112H and noticed that the crystal is very blue. Is there anyway to remove the blue tint color? Any dealer that provides the blue tint removal as well as AR coating service. Would prefer someone in SG. Thanks

Where's SG? Also, yes, you can get the blue AR removed, and get a new, better clear AR put on. I think there are a few modders on the site that do it, I'll leave it to the experts to point you in the right direction.

Search for "no glass effect" AR, I believe it's the one most people get.

Sorry to use the acronym but SG is Singapore :) With the blue tint on the cystal the watch is always looked blurr and kind of having a dirty dial. Is replacing the crystal the only option or are there any other options that we can do to get the blue tint removed? I am a newbie in this area and do not know how to do it myself. Please advise. Thanks

@chromed: I would try my best to join the Singapore GTG. Hope to get to know all the SG PAM experts :)

I sent mail to DSN explaining the blue tint. He offered a replacement of the crystal but unfortunately I am not proficient with the crystal removal. Hence I wrote back to DSN to check if he can help me to replace it. I will then send the whole watch instead. Is there anyone who could advise me on what should I do? Is there any risk in sending the watch back to DSN considering the custom risks and etc? Any watchsmith in Singapore that could help me with the crystal removal? Or is it better to ask Taka's help in this case? Appreciate any adivse and suggestions. Thanks

I can't believe you guys don't like the sapphire glass look. I love it.

Sapphire glass doesn't have a "look" when properly AR'd... that's the issue that they're having. I'm not aware of many people that prefer blue tint on what should be a clear crystal.

Most DSNs have blueish tint. Taka is your man though for some of the best AR available, and he's in your country. So is Going. I'd send him a PM if your looking for top notch mods. He uses Takas glass.

Removing the AR isn't that hard if your up to it.

I say hand the watch over to Taka.
no brainer really if you ask me. Taka is great and he will make your crystal perfect.

Well, I'm ordering a RM 005 replica and I want some mods done to it. I Google up pics of the gens and they all have that blue tint. The replicas don't have it, which is why I want mods done to it.

Blue tint

the older series of gens do have bluish tint to the crystal.. i saw this on a 176H yesterday, then as the series progress, they changed the AR tint to green, yellow, and finally colorless starting from I/J series i think, this is on the models such as 000, 112, and 176.. those are the one i saw with blue tints anyways..

Vac. He charges $25 plus shipping. One caveat, and you may already know this, but AR removal is for sapphire crystal only. Mineral crystal AR cannot be removed without scratching the crystal.

I just placed an order for my smp chrono for AR. The removing may be $25 but getting new AR is much more than that.
