Hi,
I have the rep Blancpain Tourb with date and power reserve. Just sent to watchsmith for cleaning and lubrication. Turns out the rotor isn’t faux, it is an actual automatic movement! This is different than some of the comments from RWI who noted there were no rep automatic tourb movements.
The caveat: he says it would need to spin like a thousand times to charge. And very light rotor.
From watchsmith:
This rotor drives an auto works and pawl gear like a Seiko

Perhaps you should post what model you are talking about or a picture, if you want some kind of response. Since I don't know what model you are talking about I don't know why this specific model should have a faux rotor. Almost all the replica of tourbillon are using the same movement. I have two of them and sold a third one and the rotor is working just fine for all of them.
So don't feel guilty :) it is most likely supposed to be working.

There isn't an off the shelf Chinese tourbillion with a rotor. This is correct.

I know the exact watch you have because I've seen a few of these "modified" Seagull Mechanical tourbillions with a rotor. And my assessment is that they're ok but you basically are getting a garage job modified tourbullion movement to accept a rotor. Take that as what you will in terms of stability and construction.

There's a reason why mechanical watches are mechanical. It makes sense that the rotor would barely have enough drive to provide the amount of torque and power necessary to wind the tourbillion movement.

One of what? Sorry but not following. This is not your watch. And yes this is a Seagull movement with a rotor on top of it. And most likely it works just fine. We all know that. What is the point you are trying to make?
I kind of understood that yours is not a Seagull or is a Seagull but with a different customization, that's why it would be nice to see it. Just to learn something new
My point is simple

All replica tourbillions derive from Seagull tourbillion. There is no rotor/automatic version from Seagull.

All automatic/rotor version tourbillion are modified by replica factory to have replica. It is up to us to evaluate the risk/reward of this modification.

I then showed one example of a watch to make my point.

Thanks

Oh, ok now I understand. Sorry for the misunderstanding (I did try to delete the message ;) ) I completely agree with you. :) That was my point too. It is a rep anyway. If it works just be happy with it.

Watchmaker did a fantastic job cleaning it up as preventative care. When I asked him about the faux rotor, he told me it actually does function. However it got there, it does function. Like a gen? No. The gen is 100X more costly. It was a pleasant surprise anyway. This is the Villeret 8 Jour model. Power reserve not 8 days, but not bad either. And the tourb is just so cool. Perfect dress watch.
