I was fiddling around after a couple of Old Fashioneds (never a good idea to mix watchmaking and booze I have found...) trying to fit one of the Blancpain ocean dial and movements into a NH35 case i had- the dial was too big and i ended up just buggering up the dial trying to sand it down. I decided just to order a crappy Fifty Fathoms (Certina, actually) knockoff from Ali that was about the right size and give it a go..
What I ordered:
What actually showed up:
The steel quality and overall fit and finish is terrible. The bezel doesn't even have any sort of groove to put fishing line in to help the feel.
I went ahead and whittled on the movement holder to hold the Blancpain dial and movement in- luckily the stem was long enough to just fit and allow transfer of the Certina crown.
I like the look- but if I try again I will likely look for a better case. Also likely going to go the @NCRich route and just glue the bezel to the case- I would rather have a frozen bezel than a jangly bezel. You can see the paint loss at the 8 O'clock marker where I slipped when sanding while drinking...
A solid C on the first round- will hunt for better cases ..
Fin.
