so here's the deal...supposedly JF is releasing their version of the BLUE blancpain fifty fathoms...the NOOB fifty fathoms series was pretty well received, but some improvements could have definitely been made, in particular, with the BLUE model.
so i'd thought it be kinda nice to gather information here, and hopefully anyone with some influence will see these through.
one common flaw is the crystal. the first iteration of the noob fifty fathoms in black had the crystal pretty spot on, nice purple hue but very clear. as time progressed, the hue seemed to be less pronounced and the crystal clarity not the same. however, seeing some recent pics, it seems to have gotten better, but the new version i have, crystal is lacking.
the bezel. even on the blue version, the gen version has a green tint on the bezel markers. it's pretty noticeable with the naked eye, and on the later version reps, that tint is not pronounced enough, in some, the bezel markers look pretty white/off white. again, the first iteration of the noob fifty fathoms got this spot on. font needs to also be slightly adjusted.
the dial. in the blue version, the outer guilloche pattern needs to be added.
so the above mentioned flaws, unless you are intimately familiar with the watch may be passable, especially on the wrist. one non-passable thing is the strap. you can pretty much spot many fakes across all brands simply by the strap it self. the consensus with the black strap is that it was good enough, i still think the OEM strap is necessary even in that color. that need even goes further with the BLUE strap. attached are pics of OEM blue strap versus after market. strap comparison, strap on watch with no flash, strap on watch with flash.
the fifty fathoms series watch is a great under the radar watch, not too many are familiar with the brand but it does carry history. it would be great if this was further developed!
