Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Blue Dial Pics & Opinions

Heyall,

Thought i share some pics of a recently arrived Blue BFF from my dealer...The blue flinque dial is really beautiful and this watch has been on my wrist since. I received heaps of praises from my peers for its classic yet sporty look.

Although i know there is an obvious flaw with the missing guilloche patterns on the outer most ring on the dial, its not a deal breaker for me as its too minor to be spotted when one is wearing it on the wrist. The picture below shows the rep and gen side-by-side, the rep has the missing the rose engine turned patterns on the outer-most ring on the dial that should have continued from the innermost dial circle, see pic below and you understand what i meant.

However do bear in mind we are looking at macro zoomed shots of the watch dial, which in most instance is very hard to capture once on the wrist and not easily spotted. there are some other minor flaws as well on the dial but this is only apparent when put side by side against eachother, other than that it holds up well as a very well made OTB.

With regards to the rep strap that comes with the watch, it only exhibits the bright purplish under bright light or flash photography, under normal circumstance it looks somewhat indistinguishable from the gen navy blue strap.

Macros of the watch head and the sunburst blue flinque dial, there is a tinge of bluish AR on the crystal and most likely single-sided.

Ash, very nice review. I have the other 3 reps and was afraid to pull the trigger on this because the strap looked way off in the photos I have seen. It sounds like it was only and issue of lighting. I do hope a v2 will come out with a deploy and the outer dial markings.

Being a Blancpain noob, my question is are the serial numbers on each model the same or different? Do they each have a unique serial number, and do they have any realistic accuracy to genuine Fifty fathoms numbering?

cool collection dude, would love to collect all 4 as well! anyway i would feel its the issue with lighting for the rep strap that comes from the factory, but for the gen it still is dark navy blue and does not show a different shade of color like the rep.

well thats a good question which i do not have an answer for ya, maybe anyone who knows could chime in on this?

as for the factory making a deployant buckle i would still think this is possible. After some research and if its of any interest to anyone, the gen fifty fathoms deployant buckle design shares a very similar design variant from Vacheron Constantin's and this is already repped(see last pic)

For those who are looking for clasps like the gen, you should have a look to the last BP tourbillions repped. They have deployment buckles really close to gens. In dealers section watchstation have some pictures in fact and maybe some TD could source now that buckles ???

Have the fly back chrono, FF v2 SS, and soon to be RG v1. Was thinking of rounding out with blue and radioactive one.

Thank you for the nice review, I quite like it and as you said it will be ok on the wrist and not under the "microscope"

Great review. Was thinking of pulling the trigger on this one also.

you need to look for it in the M2M section as its is no longer in production, discontinued by noob. good luck with your search dude!

indeed and there aren't many gens in the wild to begin with so most likely no one will be able to call you out.
