Black Bay S&G - EBay - Gen or Rep

This seemed to have all the appropriate paperwork including payments history to the Tudor Authorized Dealer.

That being said, this hobby has me fiercely cautious. I cannot find any gen vs rep side by sides in the archives.

Thoughts or opinions?

Based off of the size of the characters in the serials on the case back, I'd say this is a gen Black Bay. The characters in the serials on the rep are a bit larger.

Waranty Card and Box are of the same quality as the one I received with my gen Pelagos. Gold crown color matches the bezel color. Date seems to be properly aligned and flip when crown is pulled into the second position and turned counter clockwise. Finishing and engraving on the backside seems to be of similar finishing to my gen Pelagos. Pip on insert is dead center of triangle.

I am convincing myself she is as described.

Please let me know if anyone sees anything that would suggest otherwise.

I'm pretty into the Tudor Rep scene, and will tell you this looks like it's Gen. Strap is Gen and the bezel for sure is Gen (the pip is normally the giveaway). Dial font looks correct. The reps do a great job on the dials, but text colour looks good and font as well. Also really good indices alignment which tend to be another giveaway. I think you are good!

The cap on the pinion is different on the reps, isn't it? A hole on reps, no hole on Gen (at least that's how it looks without going macro in which case they both have holes, just different holes). Easy tell. That looks Gen to me.

This is a different watch here, but it shows the principle I'm getting at; how the hole atop the pinion seems different on the Rep, larger.

Yup, you are absolutely correct. I would say this one is Gen, as the hands would be the hardest to get accurate with the replica movements having a 2824 movement (and thus different stem lengths on the hands). You'd have to do some serious modding in order to pass it as fake even with Gen hands lol.

The bezel action is solid. Nice and crisp, perfectly aligned. Feels about the same quality as my gen Pelagos with a little less stiffness.
