Black Bay Red - Types of QC rejections

Hi guys, I was wondering what type of rates of rejections you are experiencing with Tudor reps (or reps in general).

I have rejected 2 black bay red 2016 with QC issues. I am sure those more experienced will know which TDs these QC photos come from. Are these issues that all of you guys would straight away reject?

This one has an issue with one of the markers. Once seen it can't be unseen...

IMG_7407.JPG

I would have thought that paint marks would be an auto-reject or at least remedied before sending QC pics to customers
IMG_7430.JPG

Do other TDs have a higher quality of QC standards that would never submit these types of examples to customers? Or have I just been unlucky?

Waiting for the next one that will hopefully be the one.

I think if you didn't point out the marker, I wouldn't have noticed lol. From what I've read, the red color of the bezel is hit or miss, as well as the color of the lume. The newer ones should have this remedied though.

Honestly, I think if the rest of the watch is good, I would accept it.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I initially was going to green light it and then I saw it and couldn't stop looking at the Marker.

I have studied the photos of the Tudor examples posted by fellow members here and I don't see the type of imperfections in the ones I have been given. I have read certain QC things about ZF so hopefully I'll get a good one soon.

Everyone has different standards when it comes to acceptable Reps I guess... I hope I'm not too anal about it.

You rejected that first watch because of that microscopic mark on the marker!? ;(
Remember, you are buying a $288 rep not a $3000 gen watch. There are gen tudors with way worse "flaws"
You are being way to picky and TD's aren't keen on working with customers who reject every tiny nitpick.

This is my second ever rep and the first one was an Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre. That was flawless and I accepted the first one I was QC'ed. I thought all reps were like that and I applied the same thinking to this one. Maybe my expectations are too high then.

I can't tell, is that paint in the crystal on the second? What did the other angles show? Personally I've accepted number one and if it was that bad in person had it relumed....but I doubt you would be able to see it at normal size.

@teddy875 i can't tell if it's on the shiny steel part of the bezel or the crystal. It turns up on all the dial facing photos I have.

Living in Australia I don't know who will be willing to relume a rep for me so I don't want to have to shell out further for a relume. You're right it's probably hard to tell at normal distance but I did not get a lume shot to see if it affected the lume in any way.

UPDATE - received the third watch QC and none of the issues of the previous ones were present and the lume disparity was also less obvious. Green lighted and now it's on the way!!!

Epilogue - I'm kinda glad I rejected the previous 2 despite the chastising on the forum. I have one that hopefully doesn't have any mechanical issues that visually I am super super happy with.

Who would be a TD......can you imagine the discussion between TD and Factory.

TD: Sorry Factory, Noob has rejected this watch.

Factory: WTF? Why?

TD: He says there's a mark on the marker.

Factory: A what? Where?

TD: Have a look through my 100x magnification glasses and you can just see it.

Factory: I still can't see it.

TD: He has also rejected the second one.

Factory: WTF? Why?

TD: He says there's a paint mark on the Bezel Ring..

Factory: A what? Where?

TD: Have a look through my 100x magnification glasses and you can just see it.

At this point of the dialogue you can choose you own ending:

i) Factory: Tell that Noob a) to find a new TD b) to die c) #@$% !!

ii)Factory: That marker is the reflection of my ceiling fan, it gets hot in the factory.

iii) TD: Are you alright Factory, you looked a little upset there for a moment?
Factory: No, just pressed the "Nuke the Noob" button and sent some love his way...

Man you are picky, I rarely reject on QC unless it some thing really bad as the next one will likely have some other issue.

Most of my Reps have some sort of flaw and I love em all!

Good luck as I think you are going to need it.

And of course there is always M2M if you need to find an appreciative new owner for your watches.

Wait till you use UV light or some other strong light to check the lume under loupe. Then you'll be pulling your hair out over how uneven the lume is on certain markers. And how much dust there is on the dial that can only be seen under loupe in strong light.

Good luck mate.

@gavmeister - got a good laugh out of that dialogue. "Nuke the noob" would have been my choice haha.

I guess there are different ways to see things. My opinion is that we pay a premium to the TDs over non-TDs or TDs that offer "price without service" so that we get a specific level of QC and service.

Sure, I could be picky with the 2 examples, and I do not really know what happens when a watch gets rejected, but I would assume that the TD would end up selling them to customers who are less picky (like some who have replied here) and be super happy with them. I don't think they would go back to the factory and end up in a bin, or pile of rejects, unsellable to anyone else.

Photos will be posted when I receive the watch (for those who are still interested or want to point out there are just as bad flaws in the watch I ended up with :)

Reps aren't flawless, like you expected, but neither are gens 99% of the time. Absolutely nuts for you to think a watch will be flawless for 1/10 the price of the gen that you're buying illegally from China...I'm at a loss for words. I would have accepted the first watch hands down; tiny little nick in the marker that you can see in your macro photo? poor TD

Today I saw my boss wearing a Rolex Hulk. I know it's gen because of the bezel shine, insert, crystal and many other factors that point to it being gen. At the same time, I could tell that the gen LV bracelet didn't have very good SEL and the rehaut wasn't that aligned. The point is, even gens are not perfect and if you point it out to AD, they will tell you it's within their acceptable error range so they will not change it for you etc.

Actually no. The TD's do not have an unlimited source of funds to hold onto rejected watches. They will have to run the gauntlet back to the factory to return the watch and get another. Back to the "office", clean it up. Put it on the timegrapher. Photograph it and e-mail a fresh set of QC pics to you...

The rejected watch probably finds it way to DH GATE.

Its funny I hear we pay a premium for our watches from a TD, which I agree, but I often hear it more as a complaint. Has those same people ever stopped to think they are one of the driving factors for this inflation with their unreal expectations?

1st watch accept it. If the lume bothers you, relume.. you should pay for your "standards" not the rest of us. Please as mentioned earlier don't put UV light to it.
