I had a hankering for a Cartier, I love the Santos de Cartier, but I wanted something different. I wanted Thin! I wanted Classy. I wanted a Dumont.
So I bought one and the itty bitty strap looked silly on my wrist. It was so bad I didn't even take a picture. I could just get it to clasp on the last hole on the strap and it wasn't going to work.
Pulling out the calipers it turns out that this thing has a 17.5mm lug width... that's a tough one to find and while some people make custom straps for the Tank that would be awesome, however, to get one long enough to fit me was more money than I paid for the rep.
I have a few Leather pass-through straps ( not allowed to use the trademark name). I love them, especially on stupid watches like rose gold rootbeer GMT IIs. It has the classy feel of a leather strap with the utilitarian MAN feel of a Nato.
I ordered a couple from Ali and even though they are 18mm they squeeze in great!
It took forever but the watch finally works for me.
