I've been looking at the panerai watches, trying to decide which one to get. I've decided that the 212 1950 flyback (like the one fakemaster reviewed) is my fave! Several dealers offer this watch and, being that I'm a relative newb, was wondering what my best option was. My budget is in the $200's. I'm not too particular on the movement, as long as it's reliable and keeps good time. Any thoughts??? Thanks.

That is one of those watches that kinda fell through the cracks. I've always liked them myself. I wonder if they still use a lowbeat 7750.

The biggest issue with that watch is the lack of a sapphire crystal, IMO. This will most likely lead to broken crystals at some point down the road. Back in the day there was at least one model that was claimed to have sapphire, but I doubt it was actually sapphire.

Oh my no. I sold that thing a loooong time ago. In response to what hooli said. I know the one I had did have sapphire on the front and mineral on the back.
