I know the cost is much extra, but will any of the dealers here source a GMT panny with 2893 or 2892 movement?..my experience in the past, I bought a pam029 couple years ago and the guy swore up and down it was the movement in the photo(2892-A2)...when I got it and opened it up...it was a gold 2836 movement.
I don't see any of the dealers here offering this eta 289x movement in their watches.
Hi,
my 2836 with GMT mod has been running perfectly and continuously (my winder assures a permanent movement) for more than 2 years. So, yes, I read this movement is not reliable, but, no, I don't think it's the case.
I've had troubles with a couple of them, but that was before I learned the proper way to set the date and time.
It was recommended not to set the date between 10p and 2a, and only set the time by moving the hands forward, even if it is just a 10 minute adjustment. I forget the reasoning behind these directions, but since following them I have never had a problem (that couldn't be attributed directly to my tinkering) with my A7750 GMT movements, of which I own eight.
First it depends what mode PAM. If it a model with the seconds at 9, the modified 7750 is the only choice that I know of. If there is another, please someone chime in The Swiss version of this is the 7754, but apparently it just isn't worth it trying to adapt a rep to use it.
If the GMT PAM is a centred seconds one, then different movements are used. And as I'm a seconds at 9 PAM guy, I've got no idea what is used for these.
