Hi, first post here!

I've got a few reps, mainly from idolreplicas, but I recently bought a Tag Carrera from watchespower (bad move), it's a shocking copy.

So I'm on the hunt for a good one! I've been having a nice long read on here and it seems a few of you have this one....

Is that the best one to go for? The silver sub-dials look a little fatter than the real deal.

Many thanks in advance!!

Sammy.

Generally speaking, the reps of those tachymetre/cal 16 carreras are pretty decent. All of the trusted dealers here likely have the same version.

NP. I could tell you about some of the differences between the gens and reps if you like (just pm me), but really those models are very good out of the box IMO.

I find it's very helpful to start collecting gen images for comparison. Google large images first, then all. If you use Firefox, there's an add on called Tineye that is a big help. Right click on an image and have Tineye search for a larger version of it.

Here's the watch you referred to in your first post...

this is an older version.
where the rotor center screw is serrated/sawed, not not refined like the real movement.

the newer version had improved rotor screws. but they used blue screws throughout the movement instead, which are a no-no in most, if not all Tags.

Thanks for the replies guys. So will the one on puretime be the "newer" replica now then?

:)

I'll get some pics up of my other watches soon and do a bit of a review...

You can e-mail them and ask them if it will be the newer or older version.

IMO, the blue screws on the newer version are more of a tell than the rotor bearing. In reality, the chances of someone noticing either of those (other than someone on this forum) is slim to none.

I guess I'm not too bothered about the rear as it'll be against my wrist most of the time! I'm more concerned about the face. I found a pic on here of the same watch from puretime that a chap was selling (hope he doesn't mind using his picture), and I've been comparing it to a genuine item.

Am I being a bit picky? The ones that annoy me the most are the grey-ish font and the fact that the silver sub dials are too thick. Hmmmmm....

Different pics in different light taken by different cameras will often show differences in the colors, or how shiny something is. You can tell the sub-dial ring is different but most of the other stuff could just be the picture. For example, I doubt the text is gray on the rep. You can't get too anal because you can always find differences from the gen on all reps. You just don't want obvious stuff (like the screws being blue, or incorrect markings on the sub-dials).

I can tell you this...the Gen is silky smooth and a great looking watch. Plays nicely on my 7.50 wrist. The rep is a nice one but as others have stated, it has it's flaws. Check out By Tors reviews of Tag reps. I thing the Aqua racer is the best one out there.

I was is the same position, I was about to buy a CV2010.

But after looking a lot of picture (Gen/rep like you did), the biggest flaw are for me the subdials and as for all A7750movement watch, the date.

So for me...it's too late, I couldn't get this CV2010 and waiting for rep improvement!

So I decided to get watch less "complicated" (without chrono) and really good out of the box like the Rolex Submariner, or the Omega Planet Ocean 42.
