I would like to get a Panerai but I don't wanna spend mega bux (sub $200). What's the best "bang for buck" out there? I remember maybe 8-10 months ago there were pretty decent 111's available for a half decent price. Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Oh yea, preferably with a display caseback with or without seconds @9

TIA

had a 1950 homage a year ago, it wasn't half bad but it wasn't anywhere near water resistant I never took it near water but the inside of the crystal would fog up when I would leave the house in the winter so that kinda turned me off of homages. Maybe I should just build my own?

At $98, I purchase and used this one until I got my courage up to spend more: http://www.marvellousreplica.com/products_detail.php?ProId=656

It served me well for several months, until I upped my ante and purchased the model for $218.

However, my advise would be to spend the $200 now. It is well worth it and it will save you money in the long run (you WILL upgrade) - Plus you can turn around and sell it for close to $200 when you get finish with it...

I agree. If quality is among the top three things you care about when buying these watches, don't waste your time on anything less than $200.

Price of a rep is hardly the stone cold answer on quality as there are many sub 200 gems out there and since a Panerai is so bloody basic they should be cheaper but I think I will go for the 111m/112m for about 195 plus shipping. I wish I could find a 111j though, I kinda like those decorated bridges.

When it comes to Panerai it seems that the $200-$250 bracket is the lowest you should go to assure reasonably quality. Especially when talking about Noob or H factory versions which for all intents dont really need any modding to be damn good.

Skip the cheapies. $200 will get you a very accurate rep and should you decide to flip it later, you'll get way more of your money back out of it. Don't short yourself with the cheap stuff.
