I'm looking for something DLC/PVD with a right side crown and crown guard. I'd like something timeless in style, and reliable, that I can keep the rest of my life in my safe.

Thanks!

Well welcome back!

You sure about the PVD Coating. Those usually scratch pretty easily in my experience. I would say go with a Ceramica, like the 441. The 111 is also very simple and a super rep.

IF you really want a PVD, I think the PAM 360 is a pretty good rep. But you can always search ALE's thread, which has all the PAM replicas and their ratings.

I guess I should clarify that I don't actually know the difference between all the black metals/coatings. I'm ok with any of them and am not particularly attached to one over the other. However, the models you mentioned have brownish numerals, which I'm just not that into. I would love some other recommendations though! I am willing to give up the exact model that I would want if the rep is virtually perfect.

Get the Pam 438 from KW if you don't mind the wrong position of the balance wheel (only a problem if you hand your watch to someone who looks at the back and is a Panerai expert as well) - the Seagull version seems out of stock everywhere. Else, the 441 if you don't need the ceramic band. The 438 is all black :)

I got myself a 438 and it's such an awesome watch.

They are nice watches but I'm not a huge fan of the brown numbers.

I do want a rep that's virtually 100% accurate, if that's possible.. and if my only option is the brown numbers I'd be ok with that.

You've got Ceramic (Black and very scratch resistant), and PVD Coated Stainless Steen (Not scratch resistant).

Have a look at ALE's thread...the last sticky'd thread. There is a ton of good info. We could all throw out our favorites, but there are just too many to name. And there are quite a few Panerai Super Reps.

Check out the submersible line. They are 47mm, so quite big, but I love my 569.

Toro told me you can get the Ceramic bracelet for th 441 as well and it would fit. Not sure if he is pulling my leg!

Definitely some cool models here, which models are considered super reps?

To give you an idea of the style I'm looking for, I like the PAM005 in black.

It should. I just wanted to go the other route (cos I'm cheap and like getting a free strap with my 438, whereas a free ceramic band is a bit much to ask with the 441 lol) and the 438 has the nice black rotor and plates rather than the silver/grey ones. Externally, on your hand, the 438 and 441 look the same once you have the same strap on them.

The balance wheel position on the black being correct can still be a giveaway given the wheel color is wrong on most reps of these last I checked (black vs. gold).

Check PAM 026. I think it checks all the boxes you mentioned. Don't know It's still available though.

I love the 026 and actually had one for awhile... but the crown is on the wrong side since I wear my watches on my left wrist.

Get a PVDed PAM111/PAM005/PAM000/PAM390. By themselves the watches are already super rep level. Applying the coating doesn't change the rating since even gen owners have their PAMs customized/bespoked.

Can we get any of these reps PVD'd? I would love to get a 372 PVD. :)

I bet you can. Just have to find a shop that will do it, but I bet you will pay a pretty penny since it would be a one off job. I am really not sure how many companies specialize in this either. It's kind of a niche coating. "Physical Vapor Deposition"

That doesn't look cheap...
