Once again, the rapprochement between the watch brand and Ducati, the legendary Italian motorcycle creator, has delivered its fair share of wow. The partnership, which began in 2011, contributed to TUDOR's development of the Fastrider, a technical and sporty line of watches that pays homage to performance. In 2013, you may recall, it was the Fastrider Black Shield chronograph, with a matt black ceramic monobloc middle case, that echoed the much-coveted Ducati Diavel. In response to this rather imaginative initiative, and basing itself on the same aesthetic cues as the watch, Ducati, for its part, chose to customize its model by producing a transcendent all-black version that struck a real chord with the markets.
In 2015, it is now the turn of the anti-conformist Ducati Scrambler, a mythical model that TUDOR's new chronograph reflects with unfettered and spontaneous language as well as technology. Ducati's DNA harbors a touch of exhilaration that is difficult to contain, it is adventurous, limitless. The new Fastrider chronograph will therefore also emanate that libertarian spirit, spiced with nonchalance, which TUDOR's Style Workshop decided to substantiate with three differently colored dials, each highly readable and stripped to the bare bones: bright yellow, the model's traditional color, olive green, with an urban-virile look, and retro-chic red.
The esthetic cues of the two-wheelers have been prioritized, right down to the two bracelets that embrace the extreme matt black steel case – waterproof to 150 meters – with a contrasting matt black ceramic bezel, and a pusher-crown coupling treated with matt black PVD. One bracelet features gadroons typical of leather saddles, the other is in matt black rubber. The esthetic dialog with the motorcycle finds its expression in an angular cowling that screams motorcyclical references, and inside which is an automatic mechanism with a power reserve of around 46 hours. The movement has been enhanced with a calendar function with rapid corrector, which is displayed in a large aperture at 4.30.
