Oh well, after just over a month of ownership my Pam111h has thrown a wobbler  . It seems to have a problem with keeping time, not losing but gaining a lot of time, Its gained 20 mins since I reset it to the correct time about 3.5hrs ago. It doesnt seem to tick as loud but maybe thats just me. It had been keeping good time. Anyone got any ideas? Easy fix? Im a complete novice with watches (although I can tell the difference between an Omega and a Panerai so I guess Im one step ahead of 90% of the worlds population LOL)

Is it getting ready to blow or is this someithng that can be rectified with the little + or - dial under the caseback? Strange thing as it had been keeping reasonable time but now its just suddenly gone really really fast :( . I had just bought a new strap for it too. Dont mind so much if it loses a few mins each day. But a big loss or gain (as Im seeing), makes it a big issue..

Any ideas/pointers much appreciated

Cheers [smilie=hello.gif]

Oh, yes, would probably help if I told you its the Chinese manual wind movement (Is this the 6497 or am I just making things up as I go along?)

This will teach me to post before searching!!
I just did a quick search for 6497 and fast and found a post which says tht it could have an 'oily harsprinbg on the balance wheel' and the remedy should be to slap it in the palm of the hand a couple of times! I will giv e it a try and report back!

the oil on the hairspring is one possibility, giving it a good whack won't hurt.

with such an abrupt change, suddenly becoming so fast, It is also possible that the balance wheel isn't moving freely. this can happen over time due to various factors. a good watchsmith can check the amplitude of the movement, unmount the balance wheel, and make sure that there is nothing limiting the free motion of the balance wheel. this can make a huge difference.
