Bad movement?

Hello everyone
I received a new Omega Spectre and all indications was that it was in good working order. This morning I set the watch, but I shook the watch to see how it reacted on the movement. I noticed the second hand stopped moving for several seconds. The crown was screwed back in place. When I am just wearing it normally, it seems to be fine. i will be watching to see if it holds time, but figured I would ask the Pros on this forum if there's any thoughts to what is causing it.

I am not sure the exact movement.

Thanks everyone for reading.

I noticed now that the second hand stops if I swing my arm. Don’t even have to shake it.

I'm sure its a Miyota 8215 and stuttering is common with that movement. Does it still keep good time?

Yes it does actually. I was surprised to see that it’s keeping time accurately so far.

The miyota 8215 uses an indirect drive for the running seconds hand. The gears in this setup can have play causing the skipping you visualize while the movement itself is running well and keeping good time. It's a known feature of the movement and larger, heavier seconds hands can accentuate this.

The good news is the stutter doesn’t effect the time keeping. The bad news is I don’t think there is a way to fix it. It’s not a big deal. Enjoy your watch.

Thanks. Since I didn’t know what movement it is, I’m glad to hear it could be a Miyota.

Definitely a miyota trait. Some are worse than others. I have a Laco Aachen with an 8000 series in it. If i bump it hard i get the same issue. Keeps great time though and its a tank of a movement.
