OK do I bought a bbb from ad 6 weeks ago.it was so accurate only gained 1 sec in 6 weeks seriously. Anyway I noticed the crown became rough and crunching when screwing the crown onto the tube.so I took it to London rsc to grease the crown. I told the guy DO NOT REMOVE MOVEMENT.as it keeps amazing time.the guy said no problems we won't go near it to sort the crown.so I was ok he said it will take a week I was shocked that it takes a week for a job that takes seconds
So 4 weeks later they still have my black bay I phoned them and they say that they notice that my movement is not keeping time and they needed to remove the movement dial etc etc.I was so angry and still am because the watchsmith has caused this issue .and now my brand new watch has been opened and seals cracked.also I used a loupe to check for dust before .now if I ever get the watch back I'll take my loupe if they leave dust or scratch on hands dial or case or braclet , or if the watch gains more than 1 sec in 6 weeks.I'll demand compensation. Where do I stand on this guy's. ?

If I find a mark or dust or find it gains more than 1 sec in 6 weeks I'll demand a new watch.I told the idiot don't open it as opening it may mess up the accuracy. but the idiot open up the case. And says the is a problem with it.so the watch maker fuked up my new bb

I highly doubt if you'll get any compensation or satisfaction as to whether or not it keeps 1 sec in 6 weeks. They'll only guarantee it'll pass whatever the ETA specs are for that particular movement.

Well it was fine before sending it in so that tells me the watchsmith has dropped or damaged the watch imo.rolex will have to pay.if it gains more than 1 sec in 6 weeks or has dirt on dial etc or scratches on the watch.I will demand compensation.I must have some rights surely?I only took it in to grease the crown

Hi sorry to hear your problems... There are a bunch of stories about bad watchmakers out there. Still I doubt the guy recieving your watch was a watchmaker as to remove the crown/stem they need to open the watch and release it from the movement. If there is dings or scratches or even dust that can be seen without a loupe you can fore sure claim they to restore it or give you a new on in worst case. But for dust only visoble with a loupe or the accuracy of 1 sec/6 weeks they will probably deny you any compensation and laugh behind your back actually Tudors with eta movement is alowed to go up to -3+16 sec day normally they go around+3 to +5. My Pelagos go +4 and my BlackBay go +6 on average over a day. But I absolutely think you should let them know how disappointed you are and ask for compensation if its outside of the QC standards from Tudor. Best luck and thanks for the warning never going to recommend them anyway.

Ok, so if this is a fully authorised Rolex Service Centre, they will have to meet certain criteria, like yearly audits etc.

As part of UK Consumer Law, under the Supply of Goods and Services Act, they have to carry out any service with reasonable care and skill.

If the watch isn't up to your expectation when you collect it, don't accept it and demand that it be sent to the main UK Service Centre in West Malling, Kent.

As far as compensation goes, if they repair your watch, there's very little you can expect to receive as going through the small claims court really is a last resort.

you do know that if the crown has issues, they have to remove the stem from the watch which requires the backcase to be opened?

Instead of raging like a fool, try to understand how the watchmaking industry works and how a watchmaker operates on watches.

It doesn't just take seconds, there is usually a line for existing work so your order is added to that distribution and hence why it may take weeks.

Chill out - its just a black bay

The OP can demand all he wants however it is likely RSC will repair it to OEM specs, timekeeping and all. He will need proof that the movement was keeping inordinate time other that he own statements.

They'll most likely only guarantee the normal operating specs on the movement, as 1 second per 6 weeks is quartz territory. Many Rolex have come back from RSC way out of chronometer spec, including a couple of my friend's watches. At best, you'll be able to return it to the service center for replacement of parts they damage, or further regulation to within spec for the watch. There's very little chance you'll get compensation though.

That being said, I hope your Black Bay gets back to you in the condition you sent. It's a damn shame that this occurred

Come on guys, the original post is almost a year old.

I imagine he's got it back by now but seeing he never let us know what happened, I'm guessing he didn't get compensation!
