*Relisting with genuine clasp*
Here it goes… picked this up some months ago in an in person deal from the original buyer. He reluctantly let go of it, as I must do now as well.
This was a project that took LuminorReptar / Vested_Bravado roughly 3 years to put together. Its a phenomenal unicorn of a watch, near impossible to replicate today - as much in a sense that the parts are prohibitively expensive, as well as many of the details were custom-made by him with the help of Spongebob to try and recreate the most accurate genuine details.
The base watch used is an XF 15202 running the modified Miyota 9015, which functions in the same way as the gen 5402. You need to backtrack the hands and then advance them again past midnight in order to set the date. The DW transitions in the same direction as gen as well.
This specific version was intended to be a final "D-Serial" which would place it around the mid-to-late 1980s. it was modeled in consideration of a "serviced" AP, since genuine hands would not fit to the 9015 movement. The dial has a slight tropical look to it as seen in the photos and is a truly stunning example of AP’s craftsmanship.
The hands are the original XF hands that have been relumed to match the dial indices.
A highly on-point XF bracelet has been installed, featuring accurate beveling and correctly sized links. For some lucky reason, this XF's beveling is less than a normal 15202, so is much closer to a 5402.
It’s also fitted with a genuine 944 clasp from the 1990s for added accuracy.
According to the AP Chronicles, this configuration is historically accurate for a serviced watch: "Given that bracelets nos. 344 and 944 could easily be substituted for one another (with the necessary manual adjustments), the Customer Service department has sometimes replaced badly damaged bracelets no. 344 with 944s."
The case was aged, and the bezel screws were reshaped to give them the same rounded appearance as seen in gen. Truly stunning!
The date wheel was created by Major Williams and LuminorReptar and has the very unique and signature font of the 5402.
The base for the solid case back was provided by Spongebob, created by LuminorReptar via a CNC factory, and completes this already excellent watch to truly turn it into a 5402.

I understand this is a jaw-dropping price tag, but please also consider that a genuine reference 5402 D-Serial in todays market is approximately $70,000 - $80,000 USD at the moment, with high "asks" close to $150,000. $9k for a watch that will cost you 10x in gen, is one hell of a bargain.
The watch is running beautifully, keeping excellent time & with a strong power reserve.
The case should be water resistant to a reasonable degree, but it has not been tested, and I would never even consider taking a watch like this in water. I would advise any buyer to take the same approach.
