I placed an order for a watch on Trusty Time with my credit card. I received an email from Andrew that the credit card had been verified, and he would proceed with processing the order. A few days later, I received another email, stating that their "CC payment gateway" side thinks that my transaction is an unauthorized payment and put a hold on the payment. I thought this was spam, and emailed Andrew to confirm. He said that it was legit and that I had to email a photo of my credit card, a recent credit card bill, and a photo of my ID. I told him that I didn't want to send personal identifiable information (PPI) via email, because this is how identity theft occurs. I asked was there any other way to handled this. He said that if I am not able to provide the information, he can cancel the transaction and issue me a refund.
Has anyone else run into this problem with TT? Andrew did say that RWI is aware that this is required to prevent fraud and scammers and that all Mods were informed. If so, this is a big problem, because as mentioned previously, if one does send PII over email there is a potential identity theft risk. TT has to come up with some other way of verifying a person's identity.
Also, what I don't understand is if my bank approved the transaction, how is it that they think it's a fraudulent transaction on their end.
