I placed an order for a watch on Trusty Time with my credit card. I received an email from Andrew that the credit card had been verified, and he would proceed with processing the order. A few days later, I received another email, stating that their "CC payment gateway" side thinks that my transaction is an unauthorized payment and put a hold on the payment. I thought this was spam, and emailed Andrew to confirm. He said that it was legit and that I had to email a photo of my credit card, a recent credit card bill, and a photo of my ID. I told him that I didn't want to send personal identifiable information (PPI) via email, because this is how identity theft occurs. I asked was there any other way to handled this. He said that if I am not able to provide the information, he can cancel the transaction and issue me a refund.

Has anyone else run into this problem with TT? Andrew did say that RWI is aware that this is required to prevent fraud and scammers and that all Mods were informed. If so, this is a big problem, because as mentioned previously, if one does send PII over email there is a potential identity theft risk. TT has to come up with some other way of verifying a person's identity.

Also, what I don't understand is if my bank approved the transaction, how is it that they think it's a fraudulent transaction on their end.

I’ve made many purchases from TT and never once had to provide this additional information. Like the previous user responded, are you sure you used the correct TD website link?

Yes, I'm sure it was the correct website. I'm waiting for my refund. Andrew said that it will take 14-21 days. When I receive it, I then can purchase the watch using WU. My main purpose in making this post was to make it known that it's not a good idea to send this information over email in the event that the same thing happens to someone else. Apparently, this doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen, because Andrew said that the RWI Mods were informed of it.

It is strange because I had a problem with the payment too and Andrew solved me the issue in less than 5 minutes. But in both cases thanks for the info mate!

The credit card processor does require some documentation proof when it is being flagged so hope buyers understand.

You miss the point. The issue is not having to provide the proof. It is the method by which you have to provide it--via email. You can't safely and securely send this type of information by email. That's why I suggested using WhatsApp. WhatsApp is encrypted so it's safe and secure to send sensitive private information that you were requesting. This is what buyers have to understand. This is what I did with Hontwatch and the purchase was flawless.
