ok i am ready to make my first rep purchase and i am either doing the 111h or 127 as previously noted my only question is this i would really like to try the CN movement first as it is easier to break in at this price but is it going to suffer quality i read a review about 2 faluty movements recieved in one day and that is obviously scary also i know the reserve is longer but wouldn't a stronger spring mean a longer life over all and what part is most likely to fail first or parts and what do we estimate the life to be at this time i know some watches last weeks, months, and some years so i am just looking for something in + or - 2 of whatever unit you chose

thanks sincerely

You can't go wrong with CN Unitas 6497-2 movement. At this price point, it is well worth the money. The extra money you can spend on reluming, cleaning up and oiling the movement. A worthy piece, much cleaner than the Asian 7750.

Actually the CN is closer to Gen because it is a copy of the actual movement used by Panerai. The only thing that the CN is missing is the swan neck. Now if that is really important, explain what it does. LOL

111

I have an early rep of the 111 with the Swiss Unitas movement. It keeps great time and has worked like a champ. I bought mine used. If you want to get one with the Swiss Unitas you might wait around, surf the four watch forums, and see if one comes up used. That is what I did. I bought it for less than the price of a new one.

Pam 111 on RWG2 and TRC

I searched around and there is an older EL Pam 111 for sale on the RWG site for 150 and there is one of the TRC site for 175 both have the Swiss Unitas movement.

also mind that the CN movement has the correct balance making 21,600 alternations/hour like the Gen monometallic Glucydur® balance.

but so far if u want the CN movement then the best case is a solid caseback or the 036 which the swanneck was not incorporated in the Gen during that period.

Ic ...the 036...I would love that...now I know 036 dont have swan neck...with swan neck..all watches expensive...but anyway...I ordered a PVD from Davidsen..I think I should go with CN ...its a caseback watch ..the 202a..what do ya think ?

I personally would like to be as close to gen as possible so I choose 004 or 009 since if u read the paneristi pre-A article, u will be see not just the "6" or the "T-Swiss-T" are different, also the words on the dial are a little different, bolder in a sense. So I would choose 004 or 009.

The first batch is 2 hands so I choose 009, the second batch has a 3 hands choice, so I choose 004. Now it is up to u to choose 2 hands or 3 hands.

If u ask me to choose for u, I will choose 004. Reason: very simple, I like to watch the second hand moving.

well... you are an expert ...I initially choose the 202a..because I like the dial more...but if not really follow GEN ..I donno..maybe I choose the 009...

the 004...well ..I alraedy own a few like that ..second hand movement...so its not really new for me anymore...but yes...it is a great pam...if I have the money ..I will buy at least 2 of them in the group..with 004 in the list too..

009 or 202a ??? LOL

If somebody could change the font on the dial easily, I don't mind buying a 202a cause I like it as I owned a rep 036.

I got gen PAMs as well and I know people will buy the 3 hands but as time goes, they will also love the 2 hands, thats natural, don't worry.

I buy rep cause some gen models IMO do not worth that much, like gen 217, it has the same movement as a gen 183 or a gen 005, it just doesn't worth that much. Plus, time goes before I collect PAM and I cannot go back and buy a 036 at the price when it was just issued and I think the current price is way too much, so I buy a rep 036 or a pre-A.

I fully support Davidsen's recent production because as a PAM lover, I like PVD and I like Pre-V or Pre-A models. Plus I love Davidsen's professionalism although like enzo said before about rep production, I understand the limitability (i.e. relume) and I don't mind putting that step to our respected watchmakers to fix it.

well ..thats good for you...a genuine PAm eh...well i dont have a genuine pam ..all reps at the moment...I think ..If I will ever buy a genuine pam..maybe a base pam ..or a base logo..only 2 hands..they are much cheaper ..:):D:D

try to get b4 May 1 cause they hike prices again. 3-5% up

I bought gen before because for 2 reasons, first I like PAM a lot, just saving money for it. I have seen an antique one back in 1997-1998 but I haven't noticed the value in it, it is like being bitten by a vampire and u don't notice till u see it again after a few years. By that time, despite u got the money, but u know u have already missed a lot...

Secondly, I really would like to see the differences between a gen and a rep.

ONE day my fren ...one day..I do love panerai very much at the moment...they the one who make me really2 into reps...coz..i've turn to looking for panerai reps because..I cant afford it..and to save up for it...after a few years..will make things harder..coz...its better for me to save up more for my needs later...for my life.. :):)..

so I do love to own one GEN ...but yeah...maybe not the BNIB....maybe a used one ...later2 in life...

I think u can do it, just have to goto a trusted source to buy it. I think for some models I might do the same in the future.
