Asian 6497 movement and long term reliability

I would like to find out how long theses reps last? (2mo. to 4years) I am talking about watches that were not modded. Straight out of box.
I am getting a feeling its a crap shoot is this true? I would appreciate your feedback. I am referring to Pam 6497 asian movement used on the 111h that runs around $200.

I've only been in this game for two years. Only had one 6497 break and it was a 30 dollar fix (teeth on a wheel were damaged). 6497's are work horses

Damn skippy! These are VERY simple movements and short of a defect.. Missing or damaged teeth.... They are the most reliable out there.

I'd say with proper maintenance you can easily get 50+ years out of them.
might need a thing or two fixed or replaced here or there, but they're about
as solid as they come.

I have read a number of post talking about asian vs swiss, but from my understanding and other threads there is no swiss just another modified chinese movement.

Is this the case with the 6497 movement?

There are genuine ETA 6497's referred to as "Swiss". Don't take that to mean they are likely assembled in Switzerland. But as others have said, the A6497 is a rock solid movement. I'd save the money and go Asian.

Ya asian is the way to go. Put the money you save from the movement into another mod, like CG, lume ect
