I hear that the Valjoux 7750 movement is very delicate and easily breaks any insight on how reliable they really are? I have been looking into the Panerai submersible with Asian Valjoux 7750 movement and it sells for $258. I just want to make sure it is worth it with that movement or should I look for something with a different movement/

Solid movements IMO. I have a number of them, as old as 5 years, and never had a problem.

Either love them or hate them I'd say. Lots of people complain, even more dont. If you have a "plain" A7750 it should be quite solid (especially if you get it cleaned .. :p). The ones with different subdial positions, such as seconds at 6o'clock or 12o'clock use a module that is added on top of the movement itself, making it worse.
Especially the seconds at 6o'clock one..

The one I'm looking at has the seconds dial at 9 oclock. Any thoughts on that?

Seconds at 9:00 with subdials at 6-9-12 is the stock configuration and is very reliable.

Seconds at 9:00 with sups at 3-6-9 is reliable.

Seconds at 3:00 with subs at 3-6-9 is reliable as transfer gears are properly jeweled.

Seconds at 6:00 with subs at 3-6-9 is a piece of crap as the transfer gears are not jeweled.

Not very familiar with the seconds at 12:00, subs at 6-9-12, but I'm sure some AP fan can comment.

Thanks for the info on the a7750 movement. I know what to look for in a chrono now.

I'll just say this about the Asian 7750s, mine was very gritty and had metal shavings inside the case. These guys that are building them are not watchsmiths. If H-U hadn't cleaned mine out it probably wouldn't be running now. They are building watches to sell and that's it!

I was reading about that last week, the module is fairly nice built (Francisco posted a review at RWG.cc I think, Ziggymeister chined in.. or the other way around ;X), has jewels on most gears. Problematic gear is the seconds transfer one it would seem. The solution would be graphite - I think most run quite well after the procedure :p. So its acceptable, just get it serviced. Defo better than the version at 6 oclock :)

I have not had a good experience with the Asian 7750. I have a IWC 3717 Flieger Chrono paperweight at this point, stuffed in a box because I cannot bear to look at that waste of money. From my experience, do not play with the chrono if you buy an Asian 7750 :( if you want a chrono you can actually use, look for a watch with a gen ETA 7750. Just my 2 cents ...
