ARF SH3186 Movement??

Hi all.

My ARF 116710 BLNR stopped after only 1 day on the wrist. I know this movement isnt said to be great to begin with. Having spoken to my watch maker they have suggested the following -

1 - Investigate why it has stopped.
2 - Service the movement.

Is it worth servicing this movement and maybe changing the date spring?? Ideally I would want to replace it with a VR3185 movement but they seem hard to find.

Thoughts welcomed

Also, If any watchmakers on this forum with experience of this movement would like to do the work for me I would also be interested in this. Maybe even some gen parts too

tbh, i would just recommend getting a vr3185 instead. look in the parts section i know at least 1 or 2 people are selling these on regular base.

First of all build quality of the vr3185 is way better than the sh one. furthermore there is a different spring mechanism which is said to be more likely to be broken on the 3186.
First thing i did on my arf 116710ln was changing the movement to a serviced vr one.

I've had two SH3186 going bad, avoid is my recommendation.

Plenty of availability of the VR3185. Ditch the SH3186 ASAP and don't spend a cent on trying to fix it.

I'll recieve a SH3186 too, do you, in 2024, still recommand to change it to the VR3185 ?

If it's running well with all functionality let it run. As soon as that changes, it's time for a different factory movement.
