Also found a seriously sexy combo for future project ideas
Fellow RWI members,
Been thinking of making this post for a while now but there is a slight problem,
I can´t in no way or shape do it myself so please help out creating the ultimate guide.
Since there are quite a few PAM nuts in the rep world and more pouring in with the
latest Super versions that got such amazing eye for details it´s a shame to
keep em on their crappy rep straps don´t you all agree?
Choosing straps for ANY other brand is kind of easy, but for PAM´s there are so many variables and choices that it makes any normal person dizzy...
I have spent the last 3-4 weeks or so looking for a nice strap for my first PAM a 177M and having serious problem to make up my mind.
But the questions just keep coming and no matter how much I look through the forums,
checking all the strap dealers and search google it doesn´t give any clear answers.
Stuff I miss here on the forum is things like basic guidance on selecting the ”right” strap.
Been checking the Paneristi section for straps a lot, lots of nice info but crappy shots most of the time.
Here is a few pointers that could help clean things up a bit depending on how much work a thread like this might take up, or we might just go with "tiny-reviews"+ 2-3 photos.
Divided in the following sub categories,
Polished cases straps.
Brushed cases straps.
Strap Thickness – What looks “best”, personally leaning towards 4mm -->6mm.
Contemporary look - Nice “clean” looking straps.
Vintage look – Old, battered, cracked, markings etc.
Buckles – Pre-V or non- Pre-V, how to choose?
Make list of pre V watch models perhaps?
Any obvious good or bad things with sewn-in buckles Vs Screw-in buckles?
What actually determines what strap goes on what watch?
Does it really boil down to personal taste and I´m going a little to far with the thinking?
Is there such a thing as a “rule”?
Seems people got VERY strong opinions on strap choices if you browse posts, so there got to be at least some “guidelines”
Ofc, a vintage build might be better off with a vintage strap for obvious reasons
So it would be nice if we could gather a collection of PAM case+strap shots for reference..
Would probably be a much visited thread.
Name of the thread you might ask, here is the suggestion:
The big Panerai strap and case combos.
There has to be some guide lines on the posts.
Good quality photos, no blurry one´s, natural non-skewed colours.
Strap mounted on watch, shot from the top, side shot(thickness of strap)
Either looped strap or a wristshot.
Model of strap and dealers would be nice also.
Maybe a few words on quality feel, stiffness etc.
Here is an example:
Dealer: Kaktus-straps.com
Model Drifter- Hemingway
Info, feels great, looks damn sexy, and soft like a newborn baby on the wrist!
So either we just keep on posting in this thread some juicy strap+ case combos with a few words or someone with more knowledge could start and build a nice little dedicated thread?
Just a few thoughts.
