Are these destros fantasies?

OK, you experts.... in my ongoing quest for a PAM destro, I came across three on Trusty's site, a PAM 005, a 111, and a 111 in PVD, all 3 in destros versions. They are also all 44 mm cases which I think is better for my 'delicate' wrists. This is the reason I think I'm going to have to abandon the PAM 217. At 47mm, Just too big for me. Are these three fantasies or were they also gens? Also, any comments on the quality of these three? I would go for the Swiss movements. As always, thank you all in advance!

Yup, all fantasy models, however if it rocks your boat, why not - afteral they're all replicas and hommages...

cheers,

I feared they were. I also agree, however, that if they suit you, what the heck.... But I equally have this deep purist streak in me that says the fantasies aren't right. Of course, the purist should also say 'you're buying a rep. That ain't right in the first place'. It's called being neurotic

You could have a base 112 made destro style?

Not sure if it realy is a model or what model its called?

I don't think there's any 44mm Pams with the seconds at 3.

nevermind I see what your saying.

:)

Sorry to ask. But what is destros? :?

It is the Panerai word for "left" (destro means left in Italian). It is a model with the crown/CG on the left side of the watch and the second subdial at 3. Examples of real Pam destro's are the 217 and 115 among others.

You can "flip" the dial and the CG and voila a 112 destro! Don't think Panerai ever made one, though! I did this to a 114 and it doen't look half bad!

The 115 definitely is a 44 mm destro!

You can, the model is called PAM219.
Just be careful with the CG as the 112 Cg flipped for destro (left side of the case with lever pointing upwards) wouldn't look right ...unless you dont' care if your lever points downward.

Thanks Boss. [smilie=angel1.gif]

You're welcome. Great change for me to answer questions instead of asking them. I guess I learned something here :D

On my 114 I had the CG flipped as well, so the lever is pointing the right way!

Boss: what PAM is it in your BMW logo? It's gorgeous. Is it one of the titanium models?

This is the only destro PAM I have, PAM22. Built from the parts I have. The case back is solid.

Great looking watch you got there. I hope the lefty PVD I have will look half as good when I put in the DSN 115 dial that is on the way!

According to official sources my rep PAM 123 is copied from the original......Lum Marina, seconds at 3, date at 9 and power reserve indicator.

114 with destro CG...hmm, I must admit haven't thought about that combo before, nice fantasy destro-Base anyway.

Still, unless the CG is either old type thick DSN with centered lever, or Ruby/Angus thick style, the CG will not look good - you'll either point the lever the right way (upwards) but the CG will be inverted, or lever downward (wrong way) and the CG the right side up. Pick your poison

Actually, I got the idea when the 114 arrived, the CG seemed a little "high" (it was a hair above the case). When I flipped the CG and used all the available "play" to get it flush, it actually looked better!
When I get the hang of making decent pics, I'll post a few to show the outcome!
