Are there customs problems ordering reps from Switzerland?

In the past I received all my reps in the UK and Australia. Now I'm considering getting a Rollie sent to me from a forum member in Hong Kong to Switzerland. Is anyone aware of any risks involved in receiving reps in Switzerland? I think I heard some scary stories in the past... Any clue? Thanks.

I don't know of anything specific, but I would *assume* that their laws would be far more strict than other countries.

If there were one place I would never send a rep that would probably be it. :p

Yeah, just my thinking...
I think I remember reading somewhere that people in Siwtzerland get their stuff sent to the UK or somewhere like that, and then on to Switzerland, as risks are minimised for shipments from the EU.
Any Swiss members here who can share some experiences?

Switzerland is a nightmare 99% of reps sent from Asia get stopped and they don't return to sender from there either they just destroy them. Only way is via an EU country

Do not send a rep from Asia to Switzerland. You will never see it. Have it shipped somewhere else and then shipped to you from inside EU.

Swiss customs is almost foolproof.

Rooster, do you spend the winter time now in Switzerland? How come?
I guess enough comment on here that you not ship it to Switzerland.

Damn Swiss efficiency!! I knew they had started cracking down on counterfeit items, but didn't realise they were so good at intercepting them at customs.

So if I route the watch through the UK, are the odds that it makes it into Switzerland just as good as getting into the UK?

Since this watch is from a private sale, I can't afford to risk a seizure of course...

i once bought many watches from a guy in switzerland, he lived on the german border.

once a week he drove over the border to buy german beer ( cheeper ) and did sent off watches to me ( within germany )

i can offer an address in germany......and send it from there to switzerland.

buy the watch from the UK based dealer, send it to germany - from there to swiss. best bet.

Thanks for all your replies.

H_U: thanks a lot. Very kind of you to offer to help. Sadly I have no choice about the dealer. It's a private purchase from a forum member in Hong Kong. I guess my options are either to get it sent to a mate in the UK who can then forward it on to Switzerland, or just tell the seller to hold on to the watch for a few weeks while I'm away, and then post it just before I'm in the UK again (end of January).

I think that's really all I can do, unless someone has another suggestion...

Guru, Vielen Dank für die gute Nachricht! :D So I will get it sent to the UK and onto Switzerland. Sounds like the way to go.
So, when are we planning that rep get-together in Schaffausen? We should plan an IWC factory tour as well... And we might be able to pick up some cheap gen parts too!
