Are open-backed watches any thicker than closed case?

I wondered if the sapphire back adds any thickness? Sorry if its a noob question...

It doesn't seem so in Panerai 44mm. I compared PAM036 with PAM089. Same caseback thickness.

F-series rep display casebacks were the same thickness as solid ones you find on B-series, for example.

H-series rep display caseback like the ones that come on 111H/177H are thinner than both B and F-Series.

I don't believe any rep comes with sapphire back...DSNs could be an exception, though.
