Guys, hope this doesnt sound stupid:
Since manual PAMs dont have rotors, Are these really quiet when you shake them?
If you ever handled an Auto rep you'll know what I mean, whatever is inside really sucks!

Looking forward to buy my first manual winding PAM super rep. Lots of reading ahead from Ale's guide though. :sigh:
Thanks

The 6497 is bulletproof like a tank but it also sounds like a tank [emoji23]

I had a lowbeat 6497 that drove me nuts. The hybrid manual in my 364 is great, no rotor and insulated.

Predictive Text killed the English Language...

Good to know! I can live with ticking but not with the wooshing. Thanks!

PAM 111 it is, any other model I should consider?

Depends on the movement. My Chinese movements have been quiet, but my Molijna is Loud as crap. My new Hamilton is very nice and barely noticeable.

Why would you shake a hand wind PAM?
In fact why shake any watch, a gentle swirling motion is all that is needed to get one going, the way some folk shake the shit out of an auto to get it started its a wonder they run at all.

shake it like a polaroid picture
shake it sh shake it

shake it sugar
shake it like a polaroid picture

The ticking's not THAT loud on my 372. But you can say that it's audible half the time.. I personally love the ticking sound though and that's really just me.

Perhaps I'm getting old and hard of hearing (not really, in my early thirties) but I only notice the ticking from my 411 when I hold it up near my head and tune in on the sound. And I actually like it

My 441 ticks silently too but the rotor sounds like an helicopter. I love the quality of that watch but hate the cheap movement noise.

Yeah the ticking is charming but somehow rotor noise is a total buzz kill. I hate that in cheap movements.

I never noticed the ticking in my Chinese movements. The Hamilton on my wrist is a bit louder, but you have to have it next to your ear to hear it. The Molnija that I have in my 6154 is so loud I bought a new movement to replace it.

When the room gets quiet at night. I can hear the PAM ticking 2/3 feet away. It's like an old automatic alarm clock.
