I know this is probably a stupid question, but if anyone has a source for discounted gen straps, please get in touch. I am NOT paying $260 for a calf leather strap when I can have one custom made for half that price.

Personally I see no reason at all to buy a gen leather PAM strap unless it is a model that is so special, that nothing else comes close.
There are so many other excellent strap makers, some even active on this forum, from which you can pick and chose.
Most gen straps are not worth the money (And this is not the opinion of someone who prefers rep over rep), in fact, most are worse than if you do it individually. Look, there are more than enough threads with discussions in our section, you have plenty to choose from. In my experience, gen asso does not take any longer to get dirty and spoil than rep (Both spoil very quickly), and there are plenty of straps that can be worn daily for years.
I probably should have been more specific. I just got a 1661 Carbotech rep from VSF. I was never into Pams at all. Always found them goofy looking, but this one I really like. I think it's the color scheme and the quality of the lightweight case. Anyway, the rep nylon "SporTech" strap is garbage, and I don't like nylon straps in general. I've ordered an FKM black rubber, but I think what would look best on this is the gen calf leather strap with the matching "aquamarine" blue stitching. I was thinking gen would be the only way to get a strap with stitching that will match.
I've already tried matching the blue with a gen Pam canvas (no match) and a rep FKM light blue rubber (no match).
If I go with an aftermarket strap maker, I assume I'm going to have to get the strap custom made to get that matching color blue thread. Does anyone know of an "off the shelf" model that will match?

If you plan on keeping the watch for a while, I'd go the custom route. You'll have a strap that will be top notch and last you a long time. The length will be made to your needs and perfect. When I was heavy into Panerai that's what I always did.
EBay …. Plenty on there If you want gen but as others have said so many quality makers with lots of choice….

The straps I've purchased of aliexpress have been really really nice. They don't have the officine panerai logo on the strap, but I dont mind since they were $6. Canvas and leather ones just slap. The rubber ones do have the logo but I dont use them ever so I can't really say if those ones are as nice. I have a gen black canvas strap and a $7.84 aliexpress one and they are way too similar for the $200 price difference.

Having spent money on countless gen straps (like an idiot). I def concur, no real difference in most straps. Honestly the rep straps are very good. Also, try the strap sales section. I see a lot of gen straps on there for decent prices.
