AR Coating for PAMs

Hi guys,

Need some opinions on whether I should get an AR coating 'upgrade' for my PAM359.

Overall I'm very happy with it but the AR on it really bugs me at times (during the day or places with bright lighting especially). Now I'm not entirely sure whether the gen PAM359 has this issue but I do read that most ppl tend to send their PAMs off for a double AR coating.

So my questions to you PAM experts out there is this: Does the gen PAM359 has double AR coating? If it doesn't and I do decide on getting double AR coating on it, would it be a big 'tell'?

Gen pams don't have double sided AR. If it bothers you enough, do it. But be aware you'll look different from gen.
Pretty sure gen pams only have one sided AR. Might help if you told us which version 359 you have.

Does that mean that the gen PAMs have the same issue as I do too? Or is the AR coating used on reps diff from the gens? Mines the 359N V2 Seagull by KW. It's rated as the 'best' version according to ALE's guide

It is most likely the second, even with the makers' claims of "AR applied by same technology Swiss watches use". Might be the same technology, but the AR film might be different. I've seen gen PAMs getting re-AR'ed and they looked different from the original watch so it's definitely the film.

I have a gen, and I can tell you, the AR is not that great. The gen looks better because the sapphire itself is clearer than the one used on reps. The gen has a completely colourless single AR on the inside of the crystal.

The crystal of the gen is still very reflective, but not as bad as the rep.

Been from the AP crew, all my Aps received 2XAR treatment, it makes the dial shine and give an extra luxury feeling to the watch, I was also hesitating to get my PAMs ARed, I think I will do eventually... It is too much of a nice feature to have, might not be gen like but still looks the part imo...

This was bothering me for a while too, when i bought the KW505 i thought there was no AR applied at all. Looking at the same gen watch in that picture, i don't see much of a difference, same amount of reflection as on my rep.

How do you plan to upgrade the crystal? I don't think that is possible unless you can buy gen crystal but that won't give you a lot of differences worth the money spent

It was just a wild suggestion lol. Wasn't thinking going gen crystal but more like other makers that has a better crystal perhaps?
Having said that, I don't think I'll be going down that path. Really really happy with my 359 overall. If anything needs modding I'd say it'll be the lume as mine isn't very strong and won't last longer than 10 mins in the dark. But for all I know the gen 359 could very well have the same issue too.

Gen 359 also has AR issues - i have the KW and honestly completely happy with the AR. I think it is fine compared to gen (Even in person)

Nice photos there Ruski. Especially that strap is that a rep or custom strap? If it's custom may I know where you got it from?

I think spend your money on a custom strap like a croco which would be a better upgrade than the crystal.
