APF 15720 vs GEN

Hello everyone, I'm a new TD and hope you guys like this comparison. If you have any questions about watches, you can come to my section, I will answer you all I know.

The Left one is from APF maker, and GEN on the right.

It’s hard to tell if which is GEN when you wear it, the color is really close. I saw that some forum members guess left one is GEN.

Now we start the comparison. The GEN is always on the right side

The original watch crowns were lost during the process of dismantling and making the watch, so I mosaiced this place and did not make a comparison.

In my opinion, this watch from the APF factory has reached the craftsmanship level of mainstream factories such as JF and ZF factories, and the color is close to the original watch, although it looks slightly warmer in photography flash light. It is a very good choice for daily wear.

What impresses me is the APF quick remove endlinks and buckle, they are completely compatible with the original watch, and they are very smooth, the matching is very precise. It feels exactly the same as the original watch when it is removed and installed.

Of course, I also found some deficiencies during the comparison, such as inner bezel numbers are still relatively old technology, numbers without stroke. The engraved place is not deep enough like all reps, where the stainless steel is brushed, there are still little differences when it is reflected, the edge of the rubber strap is not smooth enough.

Generally speaking, I think this watch is relatively good at the moment. If someone likes 15720, I will recommend this one.

@Justin TK would you happen to know if any of the factories plan to replicate the newer quick change deployant clasp? They seemed to have mastered the quick change buckle and strap, I would figure the deployant clasp or the quick change metal bracelet is next.

Very informative to compare side-by-side like this. Stunning how close they are. Only clear tell for me is the hands, and I wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for another user pointing it out in the other thread.

APS's new 15720st is the highest version on the market and is equipped with a brand new custom-made cal.4308 movement (not a variety of Japanese machines), the overall watch size 42x141.2mm, aps spared no expense to develop a one-piece machine, the original mold, so that the height of the replica further!

To be honest it looks like APF simply bought the old JF stock and continued their mediocre chrono game. Good base for a franken but still in need of much care whilst APSF Divers and RO’s come equipped with clone movements of various sorts and better dials than JF that we could‘ve only dreamed of 5 years ago.

It‘s always subjective of course what the factors are to decide between better and worse. I cannot see the quality aspect with the APF releases lately - Looking at their wrong dial layout (respectively the sub dials and functions of them) and even thicker cases.

Might be that APF is simply JF under a new name to switch lanes…
