I recently bought a Royal Oak 15400 JF on M2M and thought I’d post some short thoughts on the watch for those considering a purchase.
Dial
Although it’s listed as a 41mm watch, the length of the lugs and the integrated bracelet really makes it wear more like a 43/44mm watch. I have a 7 inch wrist and although it works, I wouldn’t mind if it was 1 or 2mm smaller instead. Too bad it sounds like the Royal Oak 15300 reps aren’t the same quality.
Overall, I really like the watch! The classic Gerald Genta design, the shifting blue dial and the jewellery like bracelet. It’s both beautiful and low key.
Without further ado, photos below. I particularly hope you find the close up of the dial useful as I previously found it difficult to find a good photo online.
Enjoy!

Dial
- The blue dial changes SIGNIFICANTLY depending on the light conditions you’re in. In some light, it can be a pale silvery blue, while in other light, it’s a deep blue.
- The Grand Tapisserie pattern on the dial is truly a work of art. I’m amazed that JF have managed to pack so much detail into it. While not obvious at normal viewing distances, the lines on each square and the contrasting pattern between the squares add so much micro texture and contrast to the dial. Truly beautiful.
- The baton indices are really classy and beautiful.
- On close inspection, the 6 o’clock marker is slightly slanted. It’s not noticeable at normal viewing distances.
- Lume is a bit weak.
- The body is solidly constructed but it is a bit thicker (about 1.5mm) than the genuine article.
- The movement is very nicely decorated. The detail really pops close up.
- The rotor is louder than my other watches. That said, if I’m in anything other than a silent room by yourself, I don’t hear it.
- The bracelet links have a lot of angles and cuts in the metal which makes it’s seem more like jewellery than an ordinary watch bracelet.
- The taper of the links looks very sharp and classy.
- I prefer single deployant buckles (e.g. the Hublot deployant) compared to the dual deployant buckles on the AP.
- While the bracelet is not stiff, it does not have as much flex as say a Rolex bracelet and is not quite as comfortable.
- I really miss the micro-adjust available for Rolex bracelets. As it stands, the bracelet is half a link too big for me. If I go down a full link, when my wrist gets warm and expands, it starts to get too tight. Not an issue for bracelets with micro-adjust.
