Not sure why you got a quartz AP - Swiss ETA is the move

Looks good though

Thanks man, yes I narrowed it down to that but have read movement troubles with sec@12. Contemplating on getting a v6 instead, I'm just buying time to decide coz I actually like the ROO look better.

@arcadia sec@9 is wrong, sec@12 is as per genuine.

T4D has quartz AP ROO's with sec@12 movements. These do not have any reliability issues.

You just quoted the answer to your question and you're still asking? :lolcina:

My question was generated by this reply to the thread:

If you ordered a black dial offshore then your good to go

So I've asked if there's any difference between a black themes and a black dial offshore

Is there a difference between a black themes and a black dial offshore ?

to which I got this answer

that's why I have pursued with my "quest"

Now it is clarified so thanks everybody

Thanks everyone, that helps a lot. So you would not be worried to wear this to nicer restaurants/country clubs? My family does pretty well fiscally speaking and I could pass for owning such a watch so that part isn't a stretch. A few of the crowd I run with have nice watches but do not know much about them other than what the AD has told them (i.e. just buy watches because they can and figure they should rather than a passion as most of us share).

This is true. However to be a bit clearer, this is in regards to the chronograph (3 dials).

Yeah, wear it anywhere you'd wear any rep without worry. I've actually owned this exact watch and it's pretty nice. Really nice for the price.

out of 500 Country club members, I'd bet 100 of them know that Audemars are expensive watches.

out of that 100, probably 50 know about the different models, i.e. ROO

out of that 50, probably 20 know that the seconds should be at 12, rather than at 6.

out of that 20, maybe 1 knows that they don't make a quartz version.

out of that 1, ***0*** will ever be able to get close enough to notice which of the small subdials is keeping seconds, and that it is ticking rather than smoothly sweeping(much harder to spot in a subdial rather than the large second hand) while you are wearing it.

and that 1 would probably spot a 7750 rep just as easily anyway...

not aware of any dealers offering rep AP ROO's with swiss eta movements, I could be wrong about that though.

to answer your question though, the quartz model looks pretty good, and its about $100 bucks, the model with the somewhat unreliable and hard to service modified 7750 is over 500. One with a "swiss eta" would be more still.

I'm thinking that might be why.

I agree with the math to a certain degree. There are in fact not so many folks around that could tell gen and even this cheap rep apart. More than 1 though. Anyhow, as for your specific situation / profile one would be more than enough IMHO.

In your given situation (country club circle jerkies + parents are well known and wealthy = high level of embarrassment and reputation damage on your side when "being caught" in this environment with a rep whilst trying to pass it as gen) I don't agree that you should feel safe with a quartz ticking sec@6 cheapo rep APROO. Given context, I personally would recommend to go for a A7750 with sec@12, because on a wrist this one is next to impossible to tell, even for a "normal WIS" (not one of us rep-WISes). Not so with a quartz rep. It is NOT a problem at all to see a subdial ticking instead of sweeping, even over a table, let's say at dinner - all the more on which dial position it is ticking away...

But it is almost impossible to see the datewheel sunken-ness & magnification, position of crown/chrono pushers and thickness of case back on the wrist over a table, which would be the only reasonable "tells" of a A7750 sec@12 IME.

I agree.

If anyone knows of the AP brand, that person is very likely to know about quartz ticking.

My GF refuses to wear any watch with a ticking hand because that in her mind equals FAKE. Doesn't matter to her if Gen is quartz as well, as is much more common with Ladies' watches.

But she would never know where the sub-dials should be.... Or care for that matter
