AP RO 15450 37mm thickness mod

Hi guys! I am new to the world of AP reps and I just recently got my first rep of the 15450 from JF. I am completely infatuated with how the watch looks and feels. I know that the only significant drawback to this version is the case thickness, and some other versions such as in W-Archive (http://warchive.net/product/audemar...ive-gen-thick/229/?cate_no=30&display_group=1) have managed to mod the thickness to be more like the gen. I was wondering if it is possible to mod on my current version to reduce the case thickness. Any advice is really helpful!

1. You can send in your watch to WArchive.
2. Alternatively and preferably, sell yours on M2M and buy a new one from Louie.

The second option will most likely be cheaper than shipping to and fro to Louie along with his modding fees.

OP, I suggest you take the #2 option offered by @himanshu_j. That totally makes sense as Louie is thus far the go-to person for thinning these AP's. #1 option will not happen in the near future as Louie is simply swamped right now, and can hardly fill the watch orders. Though you can always try, but prepare to wait a long time.

I think for now i’ll consider keeping the version i have for a little bit since it was a birthday present lol, but i will definitely highly consider putting it up in the m2m section sometime to fund Louie’s. I can imagine that sending the one i have would be a hassle and cost ineffective. Again thank you for the input!

It's thick at 11.5mm, though I could be wrong.

Such a shame. It's thicker than my 15400. Last night Louie told me he could get me his modded one within two weeks of ordering, but after all his qc issues and hold ups lately I'm thinking I'll wait until the new year for his assistant to get up to speed

I own the stock JF 15450. Thickness is only 10.8mm, not 11.5 as advertised. I wouldn't waste money to shave off that 1mm as compared to gen 9.8mm as nobody with the naked eye can spot on the wrist. But to each his own.

@Exklusive, thanks for your post. Yeah, like I said I could be wrong. Puretime and Intime don't have regular 15450's advertised, just that (horrible) satin-finish, he he.
@Nivka, yeah, I think I posted in various post that I am patiently waiting to get the grey 15450 from Louie. Louie, for me, is the only game in town for this mod, so I will wait. You are correct: next year is a better timetable. Hopefully Louie gets his act together by then. His mod of thinning down the 15450 to 9.8mm is worth waiting. I already have his 15400, and it's a super-quality job, a stark contrast of the crappy feedback he has recently delivered to some members.

They bothered me as well looking through all the close-up shots here on the forum, but honestly.. once it's on the wrist you couldn't care less.. It's just so nice and you don't notice it from normal wrist > eye distance

Yeah they are also around that size. It sits really well on it imo. Much better than the 39mm 15202 which I also had.

I use to think so until I tried on both and believe me the 1mm difference is clear. it doesn't look drastically different but the way the watch sits on your wrist and feels is completely different. the mod is totally worth it imo
