Guys i need help.

"ROYAL OAK OFFSHORE 2017 44MM REAL CERAMIC UPDATED BEZEL JF 1:1 BEST EDITION BLACK DIAL RG MARKERS ON RUBBER STRAP A3126" that I just bought stop working. The time is not moving at all.. i've just used this watch for 4 times.

I've shaked the watch and it will still not work..

Any suggestions on what I can do? Or should I just contact the TD I bought from?

Thanks

It’s a 7750, so likely to fail. Get in touch with your TD for a replacement. Nothing you can do to fix it if you don’t have the spare parts.

ossi thanks. Yes I've contacted puretime and they're asking to ship it back.

Might seem like a silly question but have you given it a good manual wind, my iwc with same movement needs more than a quick shake to get it going after being left to run down

This ^^

The Sec@12 transfer is pretty crude. The irregularities in the machining of parts causes some issues. Sometimes a good full wind (about 30 turns of the crown) will have it moving.

But there is an inherent issue with any 7750 that uses a Sec@* transfer. The movement itself is not the problem usually, although poor mainsprings can sometimes be part of the problem, especially if the transfer gears are crap.

Spitfire63 yes mate, I've manually winded it for 30-40turns.. did like 3 cycles apart in the past 2hours. It still won't work.

bkg! You're right sir. The watch stopped moving when the seconds hand is at around '12'.

i've wind it more than 30turns and it still won't work. Should I try to wind it anti-cockwise?

It will make no difference, there is a reversing clutch wheel on the auto winding bridge as they wind only in one direction. Spinning the crown counter clockwise has no effect either.

The Sec@12 refers to the transfer gear which moved the natural position of the running seconds hand to the sub dial at 12, and is not a reference to the position of the hand as it comes to a stop.

I want to be absolutely sure here that you are not making a noob error..... If you set the time and leave it for half an hour, has the time kept to what is now is? Are you judging that the watch is not working based on the center seconds hand? or is it that the running seconds (the top subdial at 12) is not running and time does not move on if the watch is set?

Time to decide. Either send it back to China with the time scale it will take and the risks that involves, or send it to one of the forum MW's for a service.

if cost is not an issue, better to send it to get serviced so you kill two birds with one stone. You would have to service it later anyway.

Could you please do any recommendation for members in CONUS?

That sucks. Sorry to hear about the issues.

The more i read about the movement in the AP chronos @12, the more i want to stay away from them, even though i want one. Badly.

Im sure this has been covered but wondering if you could just buy a real ETA 7750 from Ofrei or ebay for ~$390 and have it installed/retrofitted. Probably will cost you a penny to retrofit in, but will work for a long long long time.

That wouldn't fix the transfer plate issues, and finding the right one would be a problem. There is more than 1 type of 7750, different native layouts, different hand shaft projections, etc.

Sorry for the questions but Im a noob especially when it comes to movements, but from what i have read the 7750 movements are as follows:
7750 VARIATIONS
7750 (12/6/9 subdials with day/date at 3)
  • 7751 (12/6/9 subdials with central date hand, day/month at 12, moonphase at 6) [*=1
  • 7753 (3/6/9 subdials with date at 4) [*=1]
  • 7754 (12/6/9 subdials with date at 3 and GMT hand)
Based on the above, wouldnt the 7750 fit under the fake AP dial with the 12/6/9 for the chrono functions? Or do the AP sub dials operated differently (IE at the 12 position) than what the standard 7750 Chrono sub dials currently run on?

thanks
