AP 26331ST Chronograph

Is there any good replicas for this model? No one seems to go for ROC given the quality, but I would like to know why it's farther to a gen than the 15500 to a gen.

Thx for reply. FP1185 caliber isn't visible while wearing though since ROC has a caseback cover right? Or is FP1185 caliber visibly different on the face of the watch?

And yes I did read your well worded comment on how ROC is only identical to the gen if viewed from the moon and observing them side by side on Earth. I'm just inexperience with exactly seeing what would be visually different.

Everything, it is just not close to gen, especially the thickness. It almost looks like a ROO

If your wrist can accommodate a big watch, get yourself a ROO.... or settle on a time only AP as the ROC are DOA

The ZF IWC Portugieser Chronos are also great Reps ... don´t know, if they are "officially" Super-Reps ;-)

Even then those movements are stable but chrograph not advised to run.

Another good chronograph is the IWC 3777 with the ETA7750, especially if replaced with gen

Even the gen AP ROO 3126/3840 movement doesn’t have a reliable chrono function. The cal 440x series are better but still not perfect. Chronos in modern watches are mostly for decoration imho. If something needs to be timed, it can be done a lot more reliably with a phone I think.

Yup. My gen speedmaster reduced with the Dubois Depraz 2020 doesnt reset properly

Agree with you that at the end of the day Gen is Gen. However I think the 26331 builds do indeed have value with the Gen 1185 movements , dial etc

They can be built for well under 10k depending how you want to build it.

Some people want multiple factory reps, others would want one HQ Superfranken. To each their own

The 26331 is special in the world of AP reps in that there is no clone movement or case available so far and the only good quality builds necessitate an FP1185 (or its few variants), a cnc case and either a gen/custom dial. This is in fact true for all Royal oak chrono models. But the good thing is that while the cost is higher, you get a very nice build at the end, especially if gen dial and hands are used. It all goes down to the question of worth and as we know “worth” is pretty subjective. What is too much for someone is reasonable for another. It all depends on what the end goals are for the individual.
