Hey RWI AP fans!
In addition to my comparison of 15202 vs 15450, https://forum.replica-watch.info/th...on-pics-which-to-keep.10981296/#post-11791536 I would now like to compare the 15202 vs 15500 for those that are on the fence with either model. The 15202 is the super classy and elegant legend, while the 15500 is the more modern AP.
I just want to start this comparison by saying these are ABSOLUTELY two different watches for different audiences that can actually coexist in a collection. The 15202 is classy, elegant and can be worn with a suit but is not the sportiest of watches while the 15500 certainly is a sporty watch that can be dressed up or down. Admittedly the 15202 has been my daily for a few weeks now, and I have worn it to the beach, and to meetings and it passed with flying colors. The 15500 is obviously a bigger watch, but as you will see below it does not wear so much bigger than a 15202.
I have a pretty small, but flat wrist at about 6.3", and I can honestly say the 15500 fits decently (I see it differently in the flesh despite my horrible photography skills). The 15500 is not hanging over my wrist or seems out of place HOWEVER the dial on the watch is simply massive and makes the watch look so much bigger than the 15202. As for the case itself, I could be wrong but the lug to lug (top to bottom) is about 1mm LESS on the 15500 as the lugs kind of curve at a steep slope while the 15202 is a bit more spread out. Please also note that the bracelet is wider on the 15500 at the clasp, I thought it tapered more but it did not and that is kind of surprising however overall does not really bother me.
Putting both next to each other the 15202 just gets dwarfed, but I may have to wear the 15500 around for a couple of days to see if I can get used to the massive, empty looking dial. On one hand I love the sportiness and how substantial the 15500 feels, as the 15202 is a bit more delicate and obviously with its super thin profile a bit too elegant for daily use. It would be hard to choose one over the other, but I hope this review helps anybody that is deciding between the two, or if they are looking to add either of these watches to their collection. They can easily coexist if you have a larger collection as they are two different watches that are part of the Royal Oak family.
