Anyone tried a dirk natural strap?

They look very good, but kind of "sterile" for lack of a better word. They seem to be missing character to me. But still, very nice straps.

It looks good, but that picture isn't the most flattering ever. The color looks fantastic and would look good on PVD.

I had a Mario Paci "natural" strap that is very much like Dirk's. It will patina to a much darker medium tan as you wear it. It will take a few/several months to change, though.

Hmmmm, depends on your definition of "very dark", COLDI. Very dark compared to the color it is in that pic? Yes. Very dark compared to a dark brown dyed leather? I seriously doubt it.
Straps don't come with character, they have to earn it.
agree.. i love straps like these tt age with time&wear.. gives them so much more character..
consider GSD's straps well.. kick-ass!
I've looked at the Mario Paci straps and they are indeed beautiful, but considerably more money than those offered by most of the other strap makers out there. I do agree that you get what you pay for, but are they that much better than the rest?
They go on sale every now and again, anywhere from 25-30% off. I have 3 and they are all nice quality. I only have MPs, Gunnys, and GDS straps so I can't really compare them to any of the mid grade makers.
Someone on one of the forums had one of these mounted on a watch for sale not too long ago.
Beautiful patina that was about 12 months old he told me from my pm on it. Nicely aging to a red-rust shade, not too dark. Tried to buy it off him, should have bought the damn watch for the strap and sold it off.
Picked up a Dirk Cognac not long ago, very nice color on those too.

I am curious as to where you can buy one of these... Apparently from some quick research, Dirk straps are no longer being made by Dirk but is now a trade mark owned by TC straps....

I have quite a few straps from all 3 makers and I think for leather Dirk is the best.
Just the right thickness and that perfect soft leather that patina very vell.
Simonas have the best croc (I have 3) but I find her leather straps to be a little thin. And the box stitch are a little to close to the lugs for my taste.
MP is even thicker but I'm not sure they are woth the retail price.
However, one of my favorite straps is the MP XI Papaya brown, beautiful color!

I had one on order from Dirk but changed my mind in the last minute and got yet another shade of brown..
Okay, I found the dirk link... he sells shark and calf leather straps... in stock standard colours actually... so you would recommend him for the calf leather straps? What are the nicer colours? What about the sharks? Frankly I have seen very few example of watches going on sharks and cannot visualise how it would look... from the straps alone, I thought it would look rather wierd...
@Darth - of course i recommend DIRK for calf straps. i have two. the natural that coldi just picked up and the light tan. just pick a shade that you like. the natural is more stiff than his other colors... just fyi.
i personally have no need to shop any other strap maker. i loved the dirks since the first time i saw Coldi with one. when you see them in person you will be impressed. plus lets not forget that Dirk was the orginal strap maker for panerai. If that matters to anyone.
