Anyone take their Pelagos swimming?

Just curious if it is worth getting my Pelagos pressure tested. I have been around the block here, and I will not be taking it to the water without testing it. I am just more curious if anyone has had one pass a test and if it is even worth my time to test it or just not bother..

For reference I have a ZF V2.

I have never ever had my V1 Pelagos leak and i did some 15-25m scuba with it :) These are well made reps but have the seals all greased up.

Yes in very cold waters. A super rep is a VERY good watch in general, probably better made than many gens . . . .

I suppose you aren't that wrong. Although I would hazard anyone from taking them into water without testing, my Breitling Superocean Chrono passed a test to 200m. Can't say I have dove with it though. I would just like to be able to take the Pelagos into the pool or for a swim and not be worried about it failing.

Get it tested for piece of mind :)

I was swimming and at the sauna with my KW Pelagos. And absolutely no problems.
But I have greased all gaskets before.

Just picked up a V6f blue Pelagos via M2M that originally came from Sead. I've taken it in the pool and it's been perfect.

My Heritage Black Bay cant even take a shower without being fogged up. I have ordered tools to tighten the case back - will retry for swimming it after its greased and tighten up

Cool, well good to know it can be done. Will grease and test it when I have access to the equipment.

Does anyone know if the HEV valve is factory sealed on the Pelagos V6F v1? I'm not sure if i should try to seal it from the inside or if it's not needed.

I bought a tester last month on ebay. Only about 180 bucks but when I calculated getting my watches tested every year it was worth it. My pelagos rated 3 bars (about 66feet) which is all I test my watches to since I only swim with them

Where can I get a Pelagos case back opener. They are larger than the standard SUB opener.

The Pelagos case back is also 29.5, like the Sub. But the most cheap Chinese 29.5 tools are not really 29.5

I suggest getting the Pelagos pressure tested. I suffered a leak in the watch and ruined it.

Not sure where it came from but my guess is either the HEV and / or the crystal (not sure if there is a gasket there).

I snagged another Pelagos blue ZF but will be doing the epoxy mod to seal off the HEV and will certainly be getting it pressure tested

I, too, picked up a pressure tester off eBay ($170) and, as an aside, a Timegrapher as well. I use them to test the new stuff I buy and test again before I sell for full disclosure to prospective buyers.

Very lightly "greasing" gaskets with silicone helps. If water gets in anyway, and you see condensation under the crystal after leaving ice against it a few seconds (primitive but works) pop the back off, put a dust free cloth over the movement, and dry it off under an articulating desk lamp. Re-grease the seals, test it again and go back in the water.

Obviously if you have salt water in there, you have an issue of greater concern. ;-)

As to the HEV its a source of water infiltration on models I've had. A dot of West Systems epoxy thinned with acetone and applied with a toothpick will fix that right up.

Never Never Land
I have swam with nearly all my Factory Rollies .. never an issue. I am not suggesting we all swim with them but as long as they crown is tight should be no issues.

Mate watches are NOT designed to be in a shower, even gen dive watches. When it hits hot water steel expands and things can leak. Also the air inside expands and can leak out, then as it cools the air contracts and draws in moisture thru the same leak. Apart from that just because it fogs up doesn't mean its leaking it may just be humid air inside the watch from assembly. GZ is a pretty humid place and it probably wasn't put together in aircon. The instructions for a gen sub state that it should not be worn in a sap, sauna or hot shower. Why the hell do you need a watch in the shower anyway?
